Smokymtnsanta -> RE: Stories from the road..... (6/20/2008 9:21:36 PM)

Did not see this until now so not sure what the thread was supposed to be about. Gotta give 'em time especially when it has been a slow day all over the threads.

L5FanLady -> RE: Stories from the road..... (6/20/2008 9:26:40 PM)

Yes, that's right, Santa. This thread could be stories from both performers and from concert-goers. Those are always fun to read![:D]

LRBB -> RE: Stories from the road..... (6/20/2008 10:04:12 PM)

This thread has the potential to be pretty good. The first story that tenorsister posted was pretty funny. I hope she reposts it.

OK well I have been busy today and thought no one liked the idea but since there are those who want to know here is what the idea for the thread was/is
post funny stories from church or concerts. Much like to ones shared by rkr27504 in the "Corny jokes " thread"

Some of you may have seen this before but for those who have not here it is....

When Harold first started traveling he traveled with Squire Parsons. Harold was running sound for Squire in a church and a girl passed Harold a note that said "God has revealed to me that you are to be my husband" Harold passed the note back after he wrote "Keep praying because God has not told me anything"[:D]

tenorsister -> RE: Stories from the road..... (6/23/2008 12:02:11 PM)

Squire was singing one night in Maiden North Carolina and my mom and I went to see him. Harold was traveling with Squire at the time. My mom and I were sitting in the front and two young ladies were sitting behind us and talking about Harold. Harold kept coming and talking to me and our mom and he sat with us when he could. The young ladies continued to talk about Harold and they seemed somewhat interested in him. Squire called Harold up to sing a solo and Squire said "Now Harold do a good job cause mom and sis are right there on the front row". The one young lady exclaimed to her friend "she's not his girlfriend, just his sister". I turned around and said "yeah but you would be better off if I were his girlfriend because girlfriends come and go but....sisters are FOREVER" [sm=praying.gif]

I have a funny that happened to me a year or so ago at our product table. We have a standing agreement in our group that if any one of us feels led to give away a product free of charge to someone that maybe can't afford it (if we truly feel they can't), or to someone going through cancer, etc....then we all have liberty to do that with no questions asked by the other group members.

We were up in Tennessee in the town where I lived as a little girl. I knew lots of people that were there that day. One girl came to the table that I knew and I just felt led to give her a CD because I "KNEW" she couldn't afford to pay for it. To be as absolutely polite as I can here....she has a mental issue. I gave her the CD of her choice and told her that the only thing she owed me was to pray for us every time she played it.

Well, she proceeded to say "Well, I want all of the CDs!" I explained that as much as I would like to give them all to her, that I just couldn't do that. So, she proceeds to open her purse and pull out a $50.00 bill and say, "Well, if you won't give them to me, I'll buy them with my own money!"

If I could've pulled that tile floor up and hid under it, I probably would have!

When we got back on the bus, we were talking about our sales total, etc...for the night and my cousin proceeded to say "Well, it would've been $15.00 higher if Missy wasn't giving product away!" (Of course, I've been ribbed about that one ever since!)....

I hope I do get to see your brother and the Kingsmen in August. It sounds like he has a pretty good sense of humor! [:D]

I could tell just from watching him on stage that he's a real cut-up. I'd hate to see him and Derrick Selph on the same bus! Were they together with DMB at all?

Yes he and Derrock were.

On stage is nothing....imagine growing up with him. Spending holidays and vacations with him [sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif]

GospelProducer -> RE: Stories from the road..... (6/23/2008 5:47:09 PM)

I was standing in for a missing bass player for a group once and we went to somewhere in South Carolina for a concert. Well I have always played the bass with it hanging down really low. The lead guitar player (who had a short strap on his guitar) somehow split the whole front out of his pants when he stepped up on stage. There he was, solid black pants and bright white undies as plain as day. We swapped straps because as they say, "The show must go on." But it sure was hard playing the rest of the set with the bass up around my neck, but probably no harder than it was for him to play lead guitar with the guitar down below his waist.
