That's cool Ginny. I teach Sunday School to first and second grades and love every second of it. I was the recreation director for our VBS for the past 3 years, but my father's been in and out of the hospital for the past month so I couldn't commit to it this year. They start on Wednesday night and I'm already wishing I could be there.

Barb, that's amazing! Maybe he's gonna be an engineer! How cute Barb, I was looking for a link and totally didn't see the picture in your avatar until I went back and looked for a link again. It's a great picture. Isn't it sweet how little ones love to help? Bill, that's great about being a Sunday School teacher and loving it. I'm sorry your dad is visiting the hospital so much. Are you able to visit him regularly and is he doing alright now? I am definitely looking forward to teaching. I love to help people know about God and little people are so open to learning. I will have to pray God uses me and I'm careful in my representation of who He is. Teaching is an awesome responsibility. Well supper was leftover beef stew. I've been lazy since I got home from work. And I'm behind on my bible reading. Am reading in Psalms now and the daily assignments are a bit overwhelming. Nine psalms the first day and 8 more today. I am still working on yesterdays. I will try to catch up tomorrow. My son has two friends staying overnight. They are ordering pizza at their expense. Wonder if they will share? Probably not, teenage boys can put away the food. My oldest son's girlfriend was pregnant but evidently it was a tubular pregnancy and they had to de pregnant her plus it's been discovered she has cervical cancer. My son was very excited about being a dad again and was looking forward to the possibility of having a son. But I know he really loves this girl and will be behind her in all she goes through. He is really good in taking care of a sick person. I'm so glad both of them are going to church and have a church home. They will need the support. I talked with my sister tonight and she might come on crosswalk and visit us. She's visiting our parents in Mississippi this week and said she would not try until she is back home in Florida. Her husband is trying to fix my mom's computer. He's a computer wiz and it's taking him all week working on the puter and my sister says it will take a few more days to get the kinks out. Leah, did you get those jacket sleeves sewed? Maggie, are you reading the Rosenberg books? Cassandra, how is your uncle? Dee, HELLO! How are you doing?

Grace JUSTICE -- Is getting what we deserved. MERCY -- Is not getting what we deserved. GRACE -- Is getting what we don't deserved.

Hi Ginny -- good post, that last! I'm sorry to hear about your son's gf. That's tough to go through. I'm glad he's standing by her. BTW, I hope you get a piece of pizza . . . . . let us know if your sister comes on and what her handle is so we can be sure to welcome her properly. Yes, I did get the first sleeve sewn in. It took me a solid 3 hours to take it apart (I already had it out of the garment), fit the pieces to the sleeve hole to see how much I had to take out, then cut it down, sew it back together, and sew it back into the sleeve. I still have to sew the lining back to the garment, then do the other sleeve and lining, but at least now I know what needs to be done and have written it down so I won't forget how much I took off and where, etc. Hopefully, the other sleeve will go faster. My friend called me just as I was finishing up the sleeve, asked me to go to the garden center with her again, so I went, picked up another couple of plants, then planted them tonight after it cooled off a bit. Tho, by the time I got them planted and watered all my others, I sure wasn't cool -- sheesh! But all my flowers are looking great, and the gardens are just stunning. I love being able to go out and take a stroll around my gardens. All the pretty colors are just so delightful to behold. They are truly a reminder of how much God loves us to give us all the beautiful things he provides in nature for us to enjoy. I saw a church sign on my way home tonight, and am going to adopt it for my siggie for a while

Are you being paid for all the time it is taking to do this sewing work? Sounds complicated and time consuming.

Yes, Ginny, I'll get paid, but probably not enough. She didn't ask how much I'd charge for this, so I didn't give her a bid, but I am going to ask at least $60 for it. It's likely a $300 jacket, and she doesn't seem to mind paying high prices to have her clothes altered to fit. She's built a lot like me, so she is very used to having to altar everything, and she seems to have the money to get it done. This is the most complicated thing I've done for her. I want to charge enough to discourage her asking me for a repeat performance. But if she does anyway, at least I will know what I'm getting into, and that she doesn't mine paying the price. That's the way it goes with this kind of business, tho; some jobs are easy, and I can really make money on them, and some are difficult, time consuming, and I may not make even $5 an hour on them. I could hem 10 pair of jeans in one hour, which at $5/pr would give me nearly as much as I will make on this jacket that I will likely spend upwards of 10 hours on before it's over. Picking something apart and altering it to this extreme is really more difficulty and nearly as time consuming as making it from scratch. The thing I have to remind myself is that I'm doing this in the comfort of my own home -- and pretty much on my own schedule, with practically no overhead. I've read my books this evening then went to sleep on the chaise lounge. Think I'll move to the recliner and read some more until I fall asleep again.

If you mean Epicenter, that's a non-fiction book about the mess in the Middle East. I haven't read that one. Yeah. I guess I ordered Epicenter but that's not the book that came out in March. Dead Heat is. The following are the books I ordered. Did I miss any? "The Last Jihad" "The Ezekiel Option" "The Copper Scroll" "Epicenter: Ten Future Headlines That Will Rock The World" "Dead Heat" "The Last Days" Ginny, that's awesome about teaching for VBS. Is it in the evenings or are you taking time off? And have you heard yet whether you have a job in July? I'm sorry to hear about your son's girlfriend. It's good they caught the ectopic pregnancy in time because those can be fatal. Linda, I'm glad you got your driver's license. I'm a great procrastinator too. Drives dh crazy! I'm glad you got the sleeve figured out. Barb, that's an adorable photo. How old is Ethan? It's been raining since yesterday. We had hail too. There's so much rain that the front street has become a lake. We had only thunderstorms in the city but outside, across southern Manitoba, there were tornado watches. We have nothing like Iowa and Missouri have, in the way of flooding but it sure was a lot of rain in 24 hours. I've been up since 4:30 and am ready for a nap now. Today is dh's first day of holidays so he'll stay in bed sleeping for as long as he can manage. quote:
Maggie, are you reading the Rosenberg books? They haven't arrived yet. Right now I'm reading the third of the Bourne books by Robert Ludlum. Someone in the family wanted me to watch the movie, The Bourne Identity and I really enjoyed it. To my surprise, that same day I found a copy of the book with the same name and read it, really enjoying it even though it's totally different from the movie. So, when I finished it, I decided to order the rest of the Bourne books from the library. I need to return them before the end of this coming week because dh and I are going to a church camp for a week, starting on Friday. I'm over halfway done the third book but there is a fourth book in the series, not written by Ludlum but someone else. If I have time, I'll read it too and hope the author is as good as Ludlum--though I doubt he will be.

Sounds like a sewing project that takes a lot of patience Leah. VBS is so fun! What is the theme Ginny? Hi Bill! I hope you don't start flooding badly too Maggie. I got up this morning to get my 13yo up because they were baking cookies for something at church. After I dropped her off I went to some garage sales. Got a new to us coffee maker for hubby--he's been wanting a programmable one. It looks barely used and the proceeds went to tornado victims. Got some clothes including some scrubs for my oldest. I don't know that she'll like them but they were 25cents so it's OK. Yesterday my 13yo got some jean shorts for 25 cents; she's in need of shorts badly so that was a happy find. My 16 yo needs shorts too though. Dee
