My sweet friend Wendy Roche and her family are going to Kenya in September to be part of a missions outreach. They are a wonderful example of God's Word in action, they have adopted four children over the past 9 years; one from Russia and three from India.

They are excited about this new adventure to Kenya, and being a homeschool family they are looking forward to all the learning to be had. They are selling their home in Missouri and moving to Niarobi for 3+ years, what an ultimate homeschool experience.

They will be blogging their family's journey, so it might be fun for your family to follow their adventures and hear how it is to be a missionary/homeschool family in Africa. Please keep them in your prayers as they are in the final stages of preparation.

Foreign missions may not be a possibility for your family, but you can follow this family's adventure via the internet, here is their link:

Imagine if every home=school family adopted a Muslim student, spent time with him or her, studied his or her language, had that person over for dinner ...

It's not that hard to do, just contact your local university and ask about a language partners program. Your kids learn about another language and culture. They also learn about sovereign grace -- not all Christians are nice, and not all unbelievers have fangs. Instead of praying about hypothetical unbelievers "out there," kids can start praying for friends they know by name.

Our family's adventure has been enriched by the young Muslim grad student couples we've befriended. The girls dearly love these people, and Muslims tend to relish family hospitality. It's a more convincing form of witness than individual "witness bearing," I think.

I think a family working together and reaching out together is a loud witness in this world.
Whether it is inviting people over for dinner, working at a local outreach, or even doing missions together is a wonderful testament to others. It is God's Word in action.

Our Turkish friends were a little surprised to encounter Americans who shared their love for faith and family. Hollywood presents quite a different picture of our nation, as contemptuous towards both.
