You might be a Southern Gospel fan if...

you purchase a season pass to Dollywood just to see the Kingdom Heirs (guilty )

or

when someone asks you who your favorite hip-hop group is, you say Ernie Haase & Signature Sound

or

someone says they want to ask you a riddle and you say which one, Larry, Mike or Reagan

or

you think that the Dixie Chicks are what you'd find in Ed O'Neal's hen house

or

you think that N'Sync is referring to the four part harmony of a Southern Gospel quartet or the three part harmony of a Southern Gospel trio. For example, "I love the harmony on that Gold City song, they are really in sync."

or

when someone mentions the Rolling Stones you think of Easter morning and immediately start singing Gone, the stone is rolled back. Gone, the tomb is empty...

and finally

You might be a Southern Gospel fan if you have never heard of the Dixie Chicks, N'Sync or the Rolling Stones.

You spend all your money on Cd's, Dvd's, tapes, and group pictures. And sometimes , i mean that literally!

How many of you have the book Aaron Wllburn wrote about this subject, with the same name of this thread? It came out, I don't remember......about 4 or 5 years ago. I let a friend borrow mine, haven't got it back yet.
A few that he listed in his bood are:
...... you know that the Blackwoods aren't a forest, the Stamps aren't in the post office.
...... you know Brittney isn't related to the Speers.
...... you don't even know who Brittney is.
...... you spent your weekly grocery money at a product table. ( IT'S CRABB FOR BREAKFAST )

I'll add some.
..... an ad for a certain auto insurance makes you perk up (cringe or smile...depends on your personal taste)
..... if you wonder why in the world anyone would write a parody to "Go Jonah".
..... if you are trying to compile a complete history of the Singing News chart's #1 songs (can anyone help me with this??)
..... If you spend immeasurable amounts of time cirtiquing the PA system your favorite group uses
..... If you buy a specific audio product for your system just because someone in SG uses it. { For instance, how many people talk about the Shure SM 81's just because JD used it?}
..... If before and after a concert make sure to go on stage before they tear down and stare at all the equipment and it's settings
(GUILTY TIME AND TIME AGAIN! Kingsmen, last I knew, use AKG mics, Bheringer EQ's.
Palmetto State, Mike Upright, and The Perrys use Mackie SRM 450 speakers.
PSQ also uses 2 Mackie SWA active subs. I've seen Gold City with Audix chorded mics once , and Sennheiser wireless later. )
I have a friend who will probably tell me how Tim Duncan's mic is usually EQ'd.
Kevin Spencer & Friends use Bose mains and a Crown XTI amp.
Dixie Melody Boys once used Excell wireless for lead, baritone, and bass. the tenor perferred to use a Shure SM 58. Later they all switched to 58's)
GO AHEAD AND SAY IT.......I'M CRAZY. WORSE STILL IS THAT I REALIZE IT

I've got a copy of Aaron Wilburn's book. It is great. You need to visit your friends library and see if you can find your copy.

I can't help you with it but once you have it compiled I would like a copy of it to put onto the SG History website!

You might be a SG fan if your other plans revolve around the concerts in your area or driving distance.

You might be a SG fan if you have more pictures of your children with artists than family members!

You can read through Danny's Diary on the Singing News site. Sometime back in May '06 or '07 he compiled a list of all of the Singing News #1 songs.

You might be a Southern Gospel fan if your 2 year old is singing 'There Rose A Lamb' when her friends are just learning the words to Jesus Loves Me.

And you might be a Southern Gospel fan if when you are awake at 3:30 am, you check the SN forums!

Guilty!!!

Also guilty on knowing the buses too!!!

You might be a SGM fan if you can identify a SG song within the first 10 seconds.

You might be a SGM fan if you can pick out song covers with ease. Gold City has done it with their last two albums. First covering "Ain't That What It's All About" from the Hinsons and now "I Cast My Bread Upon The Water" by the Hemphills.

Guilty. I've got 3 ringtones on my cell phone. When BRBB calls it's "Anchored In the Rock" by the Kingdom Heirs. If I get a call from work it's Gold City's "When He Calls I'll Fly Away" and everyone else is the Kingdom Heirs' "I Know I'm Going There."
