I agree. You've got nothing to worry about in this regard, looking4help. What you did is certainly not idolatry. God does not command us to give up objects with sentimental value to church yard sales. Idolatry is about what we place above God in our lives. If you're worried about these objects (or any other aspect of your life; our idols could be money, they could be health, they could be a loved one.) being an idol for you, ask yourself, "Would I be willing to accept it if God, for whatever reason, decided to take this thing/person from me?" If your answer is "no," then you have something to work on. I'm not saying you have to get to the point where it wouldn't upset you if something you hold dear is taken away. God knows we're human, and He knows that life is difficult sometimes. For example, if you hadn't gotten those objects back (for whatever reason), He wouldn't want you to put on a fake-happy face and pretend everything was OK. No, by all means, be sad and upset that you lost these special objects! But at the same time, have a peach that God knows what He is doing, and that He is able to work out any loss we have here on earth for a greater, ultimate good that will be much better than anything we have planned.
