Here is another area I agree with the guys. If you want something, just ask. Don't hint around and play games. For example if you want a guy to carry the big heavy box, don't say, "That box is so heavy, I don't know what to do." Just say to the guy, "Will you please carry the box for me?."

I'm sorry. I find this humorous. Are there really women who behave like this and I just don't know them or something? "This box is so heavy, I don't know what to do." makes a woman seem pretty stupid. If you can't lift a box on your own strength, you simply ask for help. If you're too lazy to lift the heavy box, merely being a woman doesn't give you a pass.
It made me smile too Buglady, I thought "are there really women who still do this?" I would have thought that went by the wayside long ago...
but then the point of not expecting someone to be a mind reader is what I think was really being brought up, and that is soooo valid!

True. I get the point of not expecting someone to read your mind. Myself, I'm usually too blunt, direct to be accused of that.

Well, usually it isn't in the area of something so simple as a box, that was just the example I could think of at the time. The point was that women will often hint around, and then get upset that their husband or boyfriend or male friend or brother or father or whoever won't do the thing they are hinting around that they want, when 9 times out of 10, the particular male present would be more than willing to help if asked. For example I'v known married woman who feel overwhelmed because their husband didn't help around the house, but if the wife just said, "Dear could you please watch the kids for a few hours, or Dear, could you please help me with the dishes?" The husband than is usually more than happy to helpl.

Here is another area I agree with the guys.

If you want your husband or boyfriend, or male relative to remember a birthday, or anniversary, just remind them, rather than hope they will remember and then get upset when they don't.

Women nags. Men can't stand them. I can't either. If you can't make your point across within the first few sentences, then my head is already in another galaxy. I have a short attention span, and if you're going to give me a long narrative of the event before getting to the point, you'll lose me. I'm like a man that way.

Oh, if you don't want any man staring at your body, then cover them up. If a man notices a good looking woman while he's out with you, it's not disrespectful to you unless he's gawking or leering. Even I as a woman notice goodlooking men and women. Get used to the attention they give you or they give others. Men are visual creatures. The sooner we get this, the happier we become as a couple. If you can't handle it, get a blind husband, lol.

I agree with pretty much what everyone has said here. I hate naggers. My mom and grandmother were naggers and I understand why it drove my father and grandfather insane.

Men do forget, and I think sometimes that the drama queen in some women like that feeling when a man forgets an important date...that guilt trip they get to lay on thick afterward. Don't set them up for failure.

I think the other thing is just that they tend not to play mind games, where women perhaps do. Men are more simple in their relationships (as a whole, I think), where women are always assessing, trying to find out if there's some sort of underlying meaning to everything.

I think that is why I like my guy friends most.

I found it was harder for him to "forget" an important date if it was brightly highlighted on the calander... and if necessary a note pinned to his pillow... taped to the TV remote...

Sometimes ya just gotta get creative.

Or you can print the information on a 2x4 so it's the last thing he sees when you smack him with it.

i really thought only men on sitcoms forgot dates until my friend told me last year he had forgotten ... it's also harder to forget if you make requests for bdays gifts ... maybe ask him if he wants any ideas :)

Yes, that one works too... just didn't think I'd mention it here! LOL, actually when I got married my now ExFIL told me to get a 2 x 4 and when I wanted his attention give him a good smack with it... maybe I should've listened to him... .

Ok, I see you lurking, John_O. You know we are all waiting for your hilarious reply.

OK then. I agree iwth the women that I am a phenomenally wonderful person.

(ouch. Owie. I was joking already. Enough enough! I'll change it)

Well that went over like a lead balloon.

I agree with the women that I'm a hopeless boor who's far too full of himself.

I noticed in this thread there are a lot more women saying things they agree with men on, then there are men saying things they agree with women on.

Other men have told me that I am crazy because I love to go with my wife when she shops for clothes! I love to see her try on new dresses, suits, and especially shoes.

WoW John, I thought that I was the only one that used that phrase.

I agree with women that giving a household appliance for an anniversary is not romantic.

I believe there's a lot more women posting in these forums than men. I'm not really sure if I have an answer myself....but I do think Jane Austen movies are great! Does that count?

Nah, only jerks are jerks and jerkiness is not a gender specific condition.
