OneOfHisJewels -> What area do you agree with the opposite gender more than your own? (6/24/2008 4:28:07 PM)

One area I agree with men in, in an area women often don't is that I think it IS ok for a man to want his wife to be physically attractive to him (as in facially pretty to him), because

1. There is enough different opinions out there, that, thankfully, not everyone wants the same squaw.

2. A wife whose husband can honestly tell her how pretty she is to him every day, is going to be a lot happier than a wife who senses she is just being tolerated.

But a lot of women think men should completely overlook the physical appearance aspect, but I don't.

So, what is a way you agree more with the opposite gender rather than your own?

Here's an area where I'm with the ladies all the way:

Why can't guys put the toilet seat back down?

OneOfHisJewels -> RE: What area do you agree with the opposite gender more than your own? (6/24/2008 7:07:09 PM)

That's a good one![sm=thumbsup.gif]

cammo2006 -> RE: What area do you agree with the opposite gender more than your own? (6/24/2008 9:34:46 PM)

That's something I do automatically.

I dunno, just habit.

Ditto, though I never quite understood why not doing it annoys the ladies so. (After all, we have to lift the seat every time.) But it's such a small thing to be courteous to them, so why not? [sm=icon_smile.gif]

When it comes to looks, I agree wholeheartedly with the men. Looks do matter. And sex matters a lot in a marriage relationship.

if I don't put the lid back down, my cat will jump up and drink out of it.... I don't want her doing that... she fell in once, I don't know how long she was in there, but when I got home she was meowing away.

something I agree more...........:
when watching couples >men can be soooooooo insensitive.

shemaromans -> RE: What area do you agree with the opposite gender more than your own? (6/24/2008 10:38:45 PM)

My brother believes in equal rights. If men have to put the seat down for women, then women should have to put the seat down up for men. [:D]

I agree with most men that women shouldn't have long winded, off topic conversations while watching sporting events (in particular, football). They should watch the game and devote the majority of their talk to the game.

Edit: Oops! I blundered his joke...

Actually, I normally do try to close the top lid.

And now, back to the regularly scheduled topic............

Chick flicks are booooooring and ridiculous.

Sporting events are for kicking back and relaxing, not deep discussions.

Sex is essential and very very good.

Sometimes it's nice to just think about...nothing.

food for thought. dr harley's 10 top emotional needs and general ranking on average by men & women from http://www.marriagebuilders.com/graphic/mbi3300_needs.html

women:
1. affection (expression of care symbolizing security, protection, comfort and approval. any physical component of this is non-sexual in nature)
2. conversation
3. honesty & openness
4. financial support
5. family commitment (taking a role in moral and educational development of the children)

men:
1. sexual fulfillment
2. recreational companionship
3. physical attractiveness
4. domestic support (creation of a peaceful and well-managed home environment including child care)
5. admiration (desire to be respected, valued and appreciated by our spouse)

i might add the opposite gender trait of 'honesty & openness' to my top list ...

I agree with this one, too. Which is another reason why I think it's ok for a couple heading towards marriage to want to be physically attracted to each other. I almost included that reason in my first post, but decided not to.

As to not understanding the "why" women get annoyed by the lid up... next time you guys need to *ahem* sit on the seat- put it up prior to doing so... maybe you'll understand better [:D]. Now imagine it "up" in the middle of the night and you rather sleepily go in and "sit"... honestly, sometimes you feel like you're falling halfway to China!! Who'd think an inch or two could feel like such a distance... [&:]

Back to lurking... [:D]

if we are talking about being opposite of a typical trait, it would be helpful to list a few traits along with gender i thought. women usually value those 5 things in that order, and men those 5 things. if i value honesty & openness, that is a typical female need and i am a male so it's a disagreement. (i didnt' post my list just a difference) for example, you listed sex and you are a woman [when you aren't a fairy] and that is typically something a males values. (and not to solicit any mistruths, but from the wild at heart / no more mr christian nice guy characterizations; apparently a great number of men end up in sexless marriages or fear that greatly ... so communicating something positive about sex can only help your chances of not remaining single forever ... but i'm sure you girls prolly all know that)

I think a woman should cook, clean, and be submissive to her husband.
I don't think women should sweat the small stuff.
I don't think women should nag.
I think she should remain attractive.

This is another area I am with the guys, well, with the girls too. WITHIN MARRIAGE, I DO believe that non sexual physical affection is important, BUT I also believe plenty of sexual physical affection is JUST AS important.

OneOfHisJewels -> RE: What area do you agree with the opposite gender more than your own? (6/25/2008 4:54:08 PM)

Here is another area I agree with the guys. If you want something, just ask. Don't hint around and play games. For example if you want a guy to carry the big heavy box, don't say, "That box is so heavy, I don't know what to do." Just say to the guy, "Will you please carry the box for me?."

OneOfHisJewels -> RE: What area do you agree with the opposite gender more than your own? (6/25/2008 4:55:26 PM)

Ok, I see you lurking, John_O. You know we are all waiting for your hilarious reply.

Blazingson -> RE: What area do you agree with the opposite gender more than your own? (6/25/2008 5:07:29 PM)

Another thing I'm with the women on is the whole cuddling and conversation thing.
Intimacy means more than just sex.

I'm sorry. I find this humorous. Are there really women who behave like this and I just don't know them or something? "This box is so heavy, I don't know what to do." makes a woman seem pretty stupid. If you can't lift a box on your own strength, you simply ask for help. If you're too lazy to lift the heavy box, merely being a woman doesn't give you a pass.

hotsaucygma -> RE: What area do you agree with the opposite gender more than your own? (6/25/2008 5:33:55 PM)

Agreed, intimacy is much more than sex, although sex is a great part of it in a marriage!

I guess I'd have to (using Ed's list) say that I'd go with admiration (desire to be respected, valued and appreciated by our spouse) as one I'd side more with the "opposite sex" on. Sounds like something we can all use, imo!
