ORIGINAL: PrincessDonna We have both...a filtration system and a tube that goes to a large bubble stone in the bottom of the tank. The filtration system is great but I also like to put air pumps in the water too. what kind of cleaning equipment to you have. normally for a 10 gallon tank you only really need 1 air pump but I do prefer a 20 gallon anyway in which you need 2 air pumps. I kept a 20 gallon tank with healthy fish for about 2 years. If you any more questions it might easier if you called us I can help you a lot better and I can help you better. oh yeah one more thing I really do not like to buy fish from walmart I prefer to buy them from a real fish store they tend to last a little longer.

Lisa....if you clean the bottom of your tank you will be amazed the junk that comes out of those rocks!!!! Our tank is clean looking too, but it is still "filthy" deep down in the rocks. Everything settles to the bottom and I am always amazed how much settles down there when we clean it out (which we have to do today!!!) Having had fish most of the time that I was growing up, I am very aware that junk can build up in the gravel. I do keep an eye on that, but it hasn't been a problem. Really.

ORIGINAL: Ellie-Mae Cindy, You are more than welcome to see the set up that I have here. I promise that I won't clean my fish tank before your visit next month. You can decide for yourself whether I am out of my mind Ummm, I think I already know the answer to that one. quote:
or just a filthy person Nope. quote:
or am being honest here about our experience with goldfish. Well, knowing you, I bet that's the answer. Jesse and I will definitely look at your tank when we get there. My first inclination was a couple of goldfish and work up from there. I really don't care much what we get, other than I don't want to have to spend a ton of money and I want him to have a good experience. We did have fish when I was a kid, but my dad pretty much took care of them so I don't really remember much about them. I just remember him getting all excited when the guppies had babies.
