How are moderators chosen? Is there a test for it?

Do people volunteer for the job or is the job posted somewhere?

I don't know about a "test" but I remember answering some questions.

I don't know if it's posted anywhere or not. They are volunteers. They don't get paid because the work they do is priceless.

Do the moderators sleep with Blackberries next to them alerting of disgruntled posters at 4AM?[sm=crazy.gif] How do your spouses feel about that? [sm=comp1.gif]

LOL! Unfortunately (or is it "fortunately"?) no. Some of our mods are night owls. Fortunately, posts are few and far between at 4 AM. [;)] What we need are a couple mods in Australia or New Zealand. [8D]

And some of us ARE up very early in the morning to see such posts, AND there is such a great group in the community that anything really bad gets reported, so we see it right away.

And some of us just don't always sleep well and wake up in the middle of the night and check their computer when trying to get sleepy again.

we are also spread across the country so 3-4 am on the east coast could still catch a night owl on the west coast
