what is ya'lls opinions on purity rings? are you for them or against them and why?

ChiefWannahakaloogie -> RE: purity rings (6/25/2008 1:10:20 PM)

i dont have anything against them. if you want one, sure ok. but i dont think its any big deal if you dont have one, just because its only symbolic and the commitment you make to God to stay pure is bigger than anything a ring could give you.

i prolly wont ever get one because they are ridiculously expensive.

Ronnizzle -> RE: purity rings (6/25/2008 1:36:54 PM)

i have one and it wasn't too expensive...it was like 25 bucks

slushie -> RE: purity rings (6/25/2008 1:40:50 PM)

That's a lot![&o] Just kidding.

Well... I don't know what to say. Some people need a tangible reminder of their commitment but I don't. But it's ok, either way. I voted "for"

PrincessButtercup -> RE: purity rings (6/25/2008 2:03:10 PM)

I agree with Lacey. It's ok if you want one, but there's no Christian requirement to have one.

I've got one... somewhere...

DreadPirateRandy -> RE: purity rings (6/25/2008 2:04:36 PM)

Purity? LOL... out loud!

PrincessButtercup -> RE: purity rings (6/25/2008 2:05:06 PM)

*whap*

DreadPirateRandy -> RE: purity rings (6/25/2008 2:08:16 PM)

It's not my fault! It's in the name, for the golden chipmunk's sake.

PrincessButtercup -> RE: purity rings (6/25/2008 2:09:19 PM)

You're way too randy...

DreadPirateRandy -> RE: purity rings (6/25/2008 2:12:17 PM)

I'm too much of myself.

PrincessButtercup -> RE: purity rings (6/25/2008 2:12:49 PM)

So true.

You don't have a purity ring, do you?

DreadPirateRandy -> RE: purity rings (6/25/2008 2:16:24 PM)

I have a purity necklace, but it just contradicts my thoughts.

PrincessButtercup -> RE: purity rings (6/25/2008 2:19:20 PM)

*whap*

DreadPirateRandy -> RE: purity rings (6/25/2008 2:20:43 PM)

PrincessButtercup -> RE: purity rings (6/25/2008 2:36:57 PM)

DreadPirateRandy -> RE: purity rings (6/25/2008 2:41:32 PM)

DreadPirateRandy -> RE: purity rings (6/25/2008 4:39:14 PM)

Most of it would be in asterisks anyways.

kyangel -> RE: purity rings (6/26/2008 5:08:08 AM)

I have a purity ring. I really like it because not only is it a reminder to me, a lot of people at my school will ask questions about it so it opens up a conversation about God which is always good![:D]

Ditto. I wear my purity ring on my ring finger as a reminder to me and other people that I made a covenant with God not to mess around with anything until I get married. Like kyangel said, I also get a lot of questions about and so I try to explain to them what it means.
Since I got the ring I also never got asked to be anyone boyfriend, which is good because I'm not ready to date and eliminates a lot of the temptations which come with dating.

I don't think it's a necessity to staying pure, but will help in any case.

Snoopyroxmysox -> RE: purity rings (6/26/2008 8:41:00 AM)

I had a purity necklace....they are really good reminders of your commitment to God like kyangel said....well that's all I've got to say...
God Bless You[sm=icon_smile_fish.gif]

rae_of_light -> RE: purity rings (6/26/2008 9:36:58 AM)

I put "against". Looks like I'm the only one! It's not that I have a problem with the concept of being pure, I am all for keeping myself pure. I just have a problem with the concept of purity rings and necklaces. It all seems rather flip to me, as if you can buy purity for "only 34.99!". Jewelry is also something that you can put on or take off in an instant. Purity isn't something that you can wear or not wear whenever you feel like it, it's a life choice thing, and it sure isn't supposed to be a fashion statement or a young hollywood fad! I got totally over the purity ring thing when I saw all the little Disney stars start flashing them like gang signs. It has totally cheapened the whole thing.

If ya'll want to wear purity rings, I really don't have a problem with that. Just make sure its your focus on and commitment to God that's keeping you pure, not some temporal piece of jewelry.
