LXX -> God gave "them" up........Romans 1 (6/26/2008 9:54:13 AM)

Hello all...I want to start a discussion on just the aspects of free will or elected in a small arena of scripture. Romans 1:18-24 I am well aware of many scriptures that help define both view points but I would like to address these. The conclusion I have will direct us to Rev 3:5. Rom 1:18 For God's wrath is revealed from Heaven on all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, holding the truth in unrighteousness, The word men is meaning human beings (wicked), no particular group just humans. Rom 1:19 because the thing known of God is clearly known within them, for God revealed it to them. Both of the "thems" are referring to humans, all humans know of God Rom 1:20 For the unseen things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things made, both His eternal power and Godhead, for them to be without excuse. The "them" is referring to the previous and this is an explanation of our lack of excuse. Rom 1:21 Because knowing God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful. But they became vain in their reasonings, and their undiscerning heart was darkened. The "knowing" is explained in the previous, the "they is still the previous. Rom 1:22 Professing to be wise, they became foolish "they" is still the previous. Rom 1:23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into a likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed animals, and creeping things. Rom 1:24 Because of this, God gave them up to impurity in the lusts of their hearts, their bodies to be dishonored among themselves, Now here is the point I want to make. "God gave them up"! The Greek is paradidōmi par-ad-id'-o-mee From G3844 and G1325; to surrender, that is, yield up, entrust, transmit: - betray, bring forth, cast, commit, deliver (up), give (over, up), hazard, put in prison, recommend. Notice the thought is that He had them at one time. In Rev 3:5 The one overcoming, this one shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not at all blot his name out of the Book of Life; and I will acknowledge his name before My Father, and before His angels. Who is the one overcoming? Believers The blotted out is not just the backsliders or the apostics Now here is where to me it gets to be an eye opening thought. Rom 3:23 for all sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Rom 3:24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption in Christ Jesus, Who is justified?, the previous "all"! I am NOT talking about universal salvation but a justification of the world and by the hearing of the word with faith we can receive the salvation of Christ. Then at the moment of Christ's death all were put into the book of life and if you accept Christ by faith God will not blot out your name. Then at the moment of Christ's death all were God's and he then would have to surrender his un-believing children (blot their names out)to their choice of a sinful life. By "knowing " God, like it reads in Romans, they chose the sinful life and the God gave them over to their choice of life style. The understanding of God is in all mankind and the scriptures state that a choice was made to ignore God and when at God's timing He knew of their unwillingness to change he gave them over to their will and their name would be blotted out of the book of life.
