If this is Oprah's definition of "positive affirmation", I'd say not. But to me "positive affirmation" means simply encouraging others, helping them to see that they're loved by God no matter what, and that they're not "peculiar" in some way if they happen to feel a certain way about a certain thing--and if their ideas about something are clearly against God's will, to show them in a LOVING way where they have erred, and to gently point them in the right direction (speak the truth in love).
