Godhead -> The Bible does not conflict with scientific fact, only scientific theory (6/28/2008 1:14:46 AM)

It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.
(Isa 40:22)

Circle speaks of the Earth being round and we know that it is.

He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
(Job 26:7)

That the Earth is floating in space.

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts.
(2Pe 1:19)

Peter uses the Sun rising as a metephore for Christ dawning in our hearts. But he calls the Sun, Day Star. Showing that He knew that our sun was another star.

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
(Heb 11:3)

The Worlds, show that there are other worlds other then our planet orbiting the sun.

So the Bible is consistent with what astronomers know, it is only inconsistent with scientific theory on the origin of life. It never taught that the world was flat, but that was the general belief in those days. Those verses mentioned could not have had any meaning to them until our knowledge of Astronomy had grown. This proves that the Bible is no ordinary book. Circle of the Earth, Hangeth the Earth upon nothing, the Worlds, and day star, just would not have been known back in them days. Only God could have known that.

Circles are round, but they are not spherical. At best, this is ambiguous.

The earth may hang on nothing, but it other verses, it rests on immovable foundations.

What meaning does 'foundations' have, now that our knowledge of astronomy has grown?

The original Greek for day star is phosphoros, which just means light-bearer. Phosphoros was also the Greek god of the "morning star", which may have influenced the English translators. Of course, in Latin... oh, nevermind.

In Latin, what?

Could it be....... Satan?

This passage was later applied to the prince of the demons, and so the name "Lucifer" came to be used for Satan, and was popularized in works such as Dante's Inferno and Milton's Paradise Lost, but for English speakers the greatest influence has been its use in the King James Version for what more modern English versions translate as "Morning Star" or "Day Star".

Movable foundations is symbolic. Who can move the Earth out from under us or from its orbit? The Earth is referred too as a circle, but also that it has four corners. A circle does not have four corners, but a sphere has. The southern hemisphere, the northern hemisphere, the Eastern hemisphere and the western hemisphere. Peter clearly meant the sun rising as a metaphor for Christ, he says, 'day dawn', does he not.

A sphere does not have any corners.

How can you seek the truth with closed eyes?

How can you say a sphere has corners?
