Solus -> Are Mormons Christians? (6/28/2008 2:14:53 AM)

I believe they are, but many disagree with me. Why is it thought that they are not Christian?

1love1God1way -> RE: Are Mormons Christians? (6/28/2008 2:18:45 AM)

Because their Jesus is counter to the Jesus of the Christian Bible.

Solus -> RE: Are Mormons Christians? (6/28/2008 2:21:36 AM)

I have done research on the LDS Church and it seems that their Jesus is the same as the one in the Bible. Can you explain what you mean?

Stephanos -> RE: Are Mormons Christians? (6/28/2008 2:23:10 AM)

Can a singular person who attends a Mormon Church be a Christian? Yes. Is Mormonism a Christian denomination? NO!

Mormonism at its heart denies the very essence and nature of God. They believe that believers can become their own gods. They believe that our God was a person on another plane of existence/planet. They believe that Jesus and Satan were brothers.

They believe that by following Christ's teachings you can potentially have as much knowledge as God. But if that is completely against the Bible then what about John 10: 34? And as far as Jesus and Satan being brothers, here is what I have gathered:
They believe that God is the father of all, hence everyone is his children. But they believe that Satan is a fallen angel and Jesus is the Son of God as well as God the Son.

I am not Mormon so I may have gotten this wrong, I just don't like the smear campaign against LDS that seems to be going on.

A good book to get on the subject is Mormonism Unmasked by Dr. R. Philip Roberts. Dr. Roberts gives actual references to where Mormons say what.

And no, we can not have as much knowledge as God, because God is omnipotient. He knows EVERYTHING. Everything that was, is and will be. We can not come close to that at all. The sacrificial atonement of Christ Jesus allows us to draw near to Him. Not become His equal!

I do believe the word you're searching for is omniscient. Although God is also omnipotent (all-powerful).

1. Mormonism is a cult.

2. They believe in the God of Joseph Smith,
and even though they believe in Jesus Christ, which they say they are, they are following another "Jesus".

3. They believe in "Another Testement" of Jesus Christ, which is the "Book of Mormon." They do not believe in God's word.

This is not a smear campaign against the Mormons and I'm sorry if you think so, however, this need to be called on the carpet and to let Christians know that these people are following a religion which is contrary to bibical teachings.

earthless -> RE: Are Mormons Christians? (6/28/2008 8:04:36 AM)

Mormonism is a cult and not a Christian organization. The Jesus, God, and Gospels they preach are contrary to the teachings of Scripture. They are in the same camp as the Jehovah Witnesses, lost in heretical teachings and in foolish notions.

It is sad that they will do for a lie what many Christians never do for the truth.
