ORIGINAL: Beherskrieg There are a few good bands left in modern CCM (Hillsong United, Casting Crowns, MercyMe, some David Crowder Band), but it seems that the overwhelming majority of the stuff that comes out of Christian radio nowadays is a bunch of whiney boys ripping off Coldplay with squishy, femanized lyrics that seem to paint Jesus as your cosmic girlfriend. Agreed, I'd add Third Day to your list of good "CCM" artists, as well as Phil Keaggy, although he might throw a guitar at you if you push him into that category. If he doesn't, I would. Although I can't stand listening to too much "CCM Radio" I do have fun with it. One of the games we play at band practice is "How would this song be played if it were played by musicians who didn't have to fit into the CCM Machine (known in the middle ages as "the Iron Maiden"). Some of the songs do have postential, but they really need a lot of work. Honestly, I think CCM radio is the happy-bop, disco dance opiate of the church. Get into the rhythm, who cares about the heresy. Dance to the beat long enough and you'll find God, or at least get mind-bashed into a state where you think the gel light in the corner is an angel.
