Godhead -> The Gospel never gets old. (6/28/2008 10:50:49 PM)

Here is a rhyme that I found written in an old Bible. Its no Shakespeare or Melville, but I think it says more then both writers put together.

All of my sins He did carry to the tree, and there He paid that great price for me. Not only my sins but the sins of us all, that we have inherited through Adams fall. So great were our sins much too numerous to be named, that in His pure body He felt great agony and pain. So great was the weight of them, in much sorrow He went, sweating great drops of blood, saying, "For this very reason was I sent." So through one mans rebellion did all of us fall, now through one mans obedience we have life evermore. Though He did die, yet He rose again, thus proving that His words were true, and from the Father He came.

What a great message! This is the Gospel, this is what we believe. Is there any religion greater then ours. Praise our blessed God and redeemer. Amen!

In this morning's sermon one of our pastors gabe a definition of gospel that I had never heard: the definition came from the Romans and was the message a messenger carried informing the good news of that battle had been won.

That's exactly right. Just like, for instance, at the end WW2, the announcement that the Japanese had surrendered was very good news.
