ORIGINAL: abraxas Speaking with a coworker (she's Christian), I had mentioned something about all the diverse forms of religion, and she said that the problem wasn't that they all think they are right, but that most of them are wrong. "That's the test," she said. "We come down here to show that we can pick out the right one." Would you say that this is an accurate characterization as you see it, or not? Dear Abraxas, Many non-Christian religions have some truth in them. Even if one reads Aristotle or the other Greek philosophers, they addressed certain truths in our society. As to what this lady meant by her comment "We come down here to show that we can pick out the right one," that is worded very poorly. God in His love for His creation, sent His only Son to die for us. By the grace of Christ, grace being a precious gift that is offered to us, we are able to accept Christ's passion, that is, His death on the cross for our sins. And God in turn blesses us with the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit, which indwells us. As children of God, the Holy Spirit begins changing us into the likeness of our Lord and Master, Jesus Christ. It is a most precious and blessed journey, in which we have a living relationship with the Most High God. The Holy Scripture says that Christ "is the image of the invisible God." When we learn of Him, we come to know and partake of His very nature, this Creator of the universe and all that exists. Jesus said, "He who has seen me has seen the Father." The Apostle Peter recognized that Jesus Christ is God Incarnate when he expressed in John ch. 6, ""Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life; and we have believed, and come to know, that you are the Holy One of God." Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the God-man. He is the One who teaches us how to conduct ourselves while here on earth. He is the One who reveals God the Father to us, specifically because He is the image of the invisible God. Other religions may have some good ideas, may stress self-discipline which can be advantageous in some ways, but other belief systems do not reveal our Creator to us. We come to know, love, and serve God through being filled with the Holy Spirit and learning to imitate our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A wise man, C.S. Lewis, once said, "Jesus is either a lunatic, liar, or Lord." Each one of us will have to consider just who Jesus Christ really is. Those who call themselves Christ followers, recognize, believe and know that Jesus Christ is Lord. He, in His love and mercy, has shown me that He is indeed, "The Christ, the Son of the Living God." Now, what say ye, Abraxas? Heavendweller
