flowerz -> shaving creams (6/29/2008 5:55:44 PM)

I've used an electric shaver to shave my legs pretty much my whole life, so I don't know much about using a razer. Is it important to use shaving cream with the razor and why? It ok to shave with it dry?

I shave with just water and have never had a problem. I've cut the back of my ankles like twice in my whole life and nothing else. If I really want to use something other than water, I use hair conditioner... it's cheaper than shaving cream and works just as well (for me). Some people have a harder time shaving than others. It depends on your skin, I guess.

i have to use cream or else my legs are doomed.

I find hair conditioner to be as good, if not better than, shaving cream or gel. It's cheaper and of course you already have it, so there's no need to buy a separate product. Also, I find conditioner kinder on my skin than shaving products.

I use liquid soap.

i use the intuition but shaving cream will moisturize better than I think conditioner would. I cut myself all the time so I use the intuition.

I shave with a disposable razor and never use shaving cream and it doesn't hurt me. The only time I ever cut myself is sometimes when I start with a fresh razor.

Dry shaving will dull your blade really fast. I use hair conditioner when I shave...the very cheapest conditioner I can find. It seems to work better than just using water and is much cheaper than shaving cream.

I use conditioner too. I find it works better, is less messy, less expensive and easier than shaving cream.

I also use the intuition when I feel like it. Just depends on my mood.

Since I use a very good moisturizing bath soap, I just lather that up and use it. I've never cut myself or had any issues at all and I've done that for many years. I find the shave cream a waste of time since my Olay bath soap(I like the cream oil one) works just as well.

I wouldn't use soap though if I was just using a plain old regular deodorant bath soap. That would dry my skin out just for normal bathing, so I can't imagine what it would do for shaving. Doesn't sound fun!

Definitely no dry shaves...ouch!!

fluffmonkey -> RE: shaving creams (6/30/2008 5:31:50 PM)

I have used soap, conditioner , and shaving cream. They all work... but I use shaving cream when I can because it helps my legs... if I use conditioner it leaves my skin itchy and it don't work for me...I use soap instead of conditioner and Although I don't spend a lot money of shaving cream I get good deals on it and it last me awhile to.
But No dry shave (((ouch)))
I always used desposible razors growing up until I got the Quatro womens free and I really like it and it lasted me along time. So I got cartriges for it.
