Not sure anyone has ever started an Ivan thread before.

Saw him last evening in Kodak, Tn at the Mull concert at New Hope Church. And we had church last night. Ivan drew the most response from the crowd. Had them standing and singing along. It was great. And people were standing immediately when he sang "God Bless the USA." And as I stated in another thread, it was rather ironic him singing that song in the old "Lee Greenwood Theater". Wonder how many times Lee sang that song there?
"I can Only Imagine" was another great song from Ivan. He sang for about 45 minutes and many times the crowd was on their feet.

I hope there are some other Ivanizers out there that will post here. Let's keep it positive folks.

I have to agree with what Santa said. I don't know if it was a sold out concert but if not it surely was close. I know when I picked up my tickets I returned 2 I wasn't using and when I got to the concert later they had already sold those tickets. A couple that was vacationing heard about the concert on the radio and immediately came by and bought the tickets! Ivan was great as usual but he really had the crowd going wild. I could have sat there alnight listening to him.

Ivan is AWESOME! [sm=dance.gif][sm=dance.gif]

zmanfan38 -> RE: Ivan Parker (6/29/2008 11:20:23 PM)

He did a great job! I especially liked the medley and some of the older songs, like When I Get Carried Away.

rogasinger4Him -> RE: Ivan Parker (6/30/2008 3:28:18 PM)

I heard Ivan Parker live for the first time earlier this year in Cleveland, TN and was very moved by his performance and his friendliness afterwards.

I do cover versions of a few of his songs and always get a great response to his song "Little is Much"

I hope he gets back near the Chattanooga area again soon.

deblawson -> RE: Ivan Parker (7/9/2008 9:31:43 AM)

I am loading up a few friends to go see Ivan next week in Ft. Payne Alabama. [sm=dance.gif] I saw him in concert for the first time in March this year in Oxford Alabama. Then we saw him in May in Flowery Branch Georgia. Both times God showed up! Ivan is so annointed and really believes in what he is singing. His new DVD is awesome! I bought two copies (one for home and one for the office). Now I need a CD for the car!

Smokymtnsanta -> RE: Ivan Parker (7/9/2008 9:37:25 AM)

Welcome to the forums Deb. Glad to have you here. We like Ivan too. Better each time we get to see him.

Hope you will post often. Do you live in Ga. or Al?

gospelady -> RE: Ivan Parker (7/9/2008 9:53:19 AM)

Ivan always does a wonderful show. I first saw him 'live' in '89 & have loved him since then. I've seen him with Gold City, The Trio, & solo. Always had a wonderful time! He is awesome!

deblawson -> RE: Ivan Parker (7/9/2008 9:56:31 AM)

Thank you for the welcome. I live in a small town in North Georgia called Jasper. Lived here all of my 53 years. I have been reading the forums for a while now and just decided to register. You all seem so nice and I want to be a part of this family. [:)]

Qtman -> RE: Ivan Parker (7/9/2008 9:58:33 AM)

Welcome to the family. Most of us are nice most some part well every now and then.

DJSfromCleveland -> RE: Ivan Parker (7/9/2008 10:02:05 AM)

I want to order that DVD, the Best of Ivan Parker, from the Gaither Homecomings. It's got all his best songs he did with the Homecoming group.

Smokymtnsanta -> RE: Ivan Parker (7/9/2008 10:02:57 AM)

Know exactly where you are. Do you shop at Jasper Drugs? We do Santa photos there every year. Michael White is the floor manager.

ETA to stay on topic:
Ivan is doing better now than ever before IMHO.

deblawson -> RE: Ivan Parker (7/9/2008 10:21:16 AM)

I am sure I have seen you during the Christmas season at the drug store. It's a small world! And I have known Michael White all of my life.

ETA to stay on topic: Christmas is Ivan's favorite time of the year!

DJSfromCleveland -> RE: Ivan Parker (7/9/2008 10:27:03 AM)

And Santa would be a hard person to miss in the middle of a drug store! LOL[:D]

My condolences (reference to bolded part).

Just kidding. Michael is a great guy and I know he loves SG and probably even likes Ivan also.

Sorry about the clobbering[sm=hammerhead.gif] Where are you from?

Thanks for the welcome!

That's okay...I'm 40 years old, so I didn't have a dog in the race, so to speak.[:D]

We've lived in Knoxville for 12 years, but my high school is in Roane County, TN.

deblawson -> RE: Ivan Parker (7/9/2008 3:05:00 PM)

Mike Holcomb and I graduated from high school together. He looks almost the same now as he did in 1972. He was and still is a great guy!

Deb.....Welcome here.....Are you any relation to the Lawsons that own a car Dealership in Jasper? Years ago I bought a couple of cars from them.

deblawson -> RE: Ivan Parker (7/9/2008 3:38:17 PM)

Same name, no relation...Thanks for the welcome! [:)]

MaestroSC -> RE: Ivan Parker (7/14/2008 1:52:59 PM)

I remember hearing Ivan in Gold City when I was a child. He is so consistent, it's absolutely incredible. Even as he's 20 years older now, he still has the same, solid, smooth, and great sound that he did back then. Incredible talent.

I agree! I watched Bill Gaither's "Best of Ivan Parker" informercial again this past weekend, and I really enjoyed it. Ivan seems to be so easy-going, and he is extremely talented! I've got one of the older Gold City CDs, "Windows of Home" that I listen to a LOT. In my opinion, when Ivan, Brian Free, Mike LeFevre and Tim Riley were together, THAT was the best ever line-up for Gold City.
