Yep, Ginny, I certainly woudl have, too. In fact, I'd have likely fixed him a small plate with his melon on it, and bodily lifted him and any other toddlers away from the tray, but that's just me. Always have had a problem with allowing little ones to waste food -- and have an even bigger problem with parents who don't watch/control their toddlers/children's behavior. I'm glad you had a good day in spite of this. Sounds like everyone enjoyed the makeshift sled -- aren't those just the best of times! We've improvised many ways to make a sled over the years . . . many years ago at home we used the hood off an old car, and let someone pull us around with a motorcycle. When our kids were small, Bill used his lawn tractor to pull the kids sled around when the ice & snow wasn't cooperative enough. Lots of fun -- many memories We had a good 4th, also. Met at the church with covered dishes; pastor barbequed hot dogs & hamburers, and we feasted to our hearts' content, then fellowshipped and played Washers until time for the city fireworks, enjoying the church kids' in the meantime. The fireworks were set off at 9:30 . . don't remember who siad there's was 11:00 but that's . . . do they really expect that's when the greatest crowd woudl be there? Seems to me many folks our age, not to mention the little ones, would have long given up & gone to bed. Welcome to the chat thread, MamaPyratekk . . don't recall having seen you around before, but glad you could join us, and glad to hear you're enjoying that new grill . . . when you having a barbeque & inviting us all over??? . . . . btw, where do you hail from anyway? Tell us a little about yourself -- I see by your profile you have kiddies . . kiddy talk is always welcome in the chat thread, tho some of us are talking about "grand"-kiddies Yesterday we had the fried chicken dinner for Bill's niece & her family who helped us with the flooring in the spring. I fried about 9 pounds of chicken, cutting some of the breast off the bone to make some really good chicken strips. It was really nice, and I know they appreciated it -- especially at this particular time as they are in the midst of moving, and this was the weekend they were doing some major packing -- plus, their a/c went out in the house, so they were extra relieved to enjoy a few hours respite in our cool house . . we keep it too cool for many ppl, but I heard absolutely NO complaints last night -- well, except for some groans about their too full tummies . . . . it was a good evening, finished off with a few games of Rummikub around the kitchen table. I sure was glad to get in bed last night, tho, and even more happy to go out to eat for lunch today rather than spending another hour or two in the kitchen. I had my favorite pasta dish at a local restaurant and now I'm ready for a nap

I think we're going to be grill-addicted Welcome to the club! I grill year round. Been known to stand out there with temps in the teens, or with an umbrella to keep the rain off. Grilling in the snow is fun! I had a very lazy Fourth. The weather was hot and humid with t-storms predicted that never materialized. Didn't even light the grill. Now it's back to the same old grind.

You all hop on planes and buses and in your cars and come on over lol, we'll have a party! Hmmm a little about myself, I'm always bad at this. Well, I'm a 22 year old stay-at-home mom to my son Jacob (20 months old) and I'm nearly 30 weeks along with baby number two. A little girl we plan to name Summer Elaine (Elaine after my husband's grandmother). My husband's name is Alex, he works for an Orthopedic rep. company called DePuy. We've been married since September 1st of last year :). Religion wise we both reaccepted Christ about 6-7 months ago, while I had separated from him (big mistake on my part, but God used it to bring me closer to Him and my husband!). After rededicating ourselves, our lives have really reaped the benefits! We're happy, healthy, and just loving life. Right now Jacob is going through the lovely terrible 2s while also teething with two of his 2 year molars. ...ha, after writing that I realized just how much the number "2" keeps popping up in my life! Random, but it has been! I wonder if that has any significance, I'll have to do some research :D. Anyhow, other than that my life is actually fairly boring really. I hope to eventually go back to school and become a registered dietitian. I really love fitness and nutrition, and also basically anything dealing with the arts. I think that's about it! I'm pretty much an open book but I always suck at intros :D. quote:

We have eaten every meal (sans breakfast) from the grill since we bought it. The first night we had steaks. The second day at lunch we had hotdogs then we went out to dinner. And yesterday we had hot dogs for lunch and burgers for dinner ha
