ORIGINAL: Leon_Figg3 ken1906_4, With all due respect you are clearly confusing two entirely different situations, ages, and circumstances. 2. Early Christians put their faith and beliefs ahead of their possessions because, for the most part, they had very little. All they truely had was their faith and their beliefs. 3. In the early days of Christianity, Christian beliefs taught people not to put their trust or any value on anything in this world, not even their lives. As a result most early Christians adopted the belief that Christians were to be non-violent in their response to persecution as opposed to the Jews who largely believed in fighting for their beliefs. Aren't these good attitudes to have, and shouldn't we aspire to these today also? It seems to me that even without the Bible, the early Christians had a better understanding of Christianity than we do today in many respects. Cheers, Clayton. Though I may tend to agree with you, to some extent, that the early Christians may have had a better understanding of Christianity than we do today, in many respects, I would hate to think the shape this world would be in if we had not learned more and gained a better understanding of the Scriptures that came to be the Bible along the way Also, many of the early Christians were a fairly diverse lot, maybe even a little more diverse than we seem to be today.
