I have to agree with just trusting the Holy Spirit in situations like that. I've been in the position of both giving and receiving. Pray about how much to give, when to give and in what form to give. I can give you an example of something I did a few years ago. A friend who is a single mum was really struggling with finances. I felt led to get her and her kids some groceries. I prayed before I went to the supermarket and picked out some things for them. To me, it seemed like a weird combination of groceries, but I was obedient. When I took them to her that afternoon, she was completely flabbergasted. She'd been shopping that morning and had to put things back because she didn't have enough money for those items. They were the things that I'd brought her. I hadn't had a clue what she needed or even liked. I wasn't even sure they needed groceries. God led though. If God wants you to give, just ask Him to show you and to make you alert to when and how. I don't know how many times that happened just with that friend alone. Don't feel guilty about having money for a holiday. God gives you money to bless others who need it, but He also allows you to use it for your own needs and blessings. If God's led you to have a holiday, He'll provide the money for it too. car2ner, that's so great about the meat for Christmas! I know of another couple who were given meat for Christmas years ago. They had just had their 7th child, and the husband had just lost his job. A lady I know gave them a particular cut of meat, and the parents just sat down and cried. The husband had been a chef, and he'd really been wanting this particular cut of meat so that he could cook it for his family. God knows our needs and desires, even down to a particular cut of meat.
