what do u all think about prison...????

do u think it really deters people, or is a good punishment for the crime?

If they treating it like prison instead of a country club it would be a good deterrent. For now it's just a way to get perps out of society for a while.

Punishment should have far more restitution involved in addition to the incarceration. For most perps prison has almost no rehabilitative function (At least as far as I've ever seen. But then I don't have the data on this facet of it)

yes, i agree w/you on it there.......having a person locked up in a cell 22 hours a day, doesnt do anything for him/her while they are in there.

i'm sorry......am i supposed to care if it does anything for them? i seriously believe prison is to be a punishment. always has been...always should be!!! and my tax dollars are wasted they way things are now. i think 22 hrs in a cell is 2 hrs too short for most of them.

Niiiice...as long as my car is in the garage.

I don't have a garage. Keep them away! Not my new car!!! WAAAAAH!

-Robb

Not only do I have a garage, I have a THREE CAR garage...mwahahahaha!!!!

*I have no idea why this is a good thing. I only own one car.*

my ex and i used to sit out in the garage (3-car, also) after we put the kids to bed...so they couldn't hear us. lol we put the patio set in there during the winter...it was out little escape. so it WAS a good thing! i even hung pretty lil white christmas lites and had him wire in speakers.

I am back.

I have a detached garage that has a bay for a car and one for a boat (which I don't have) and two separate work areas.

Yeah, it should be a punishment. But, unless they're in for life, they're gonna get out and be back on the street. With no rehabilitation, you're more likely gonna get an embittered criminal who learned to be more vicious than someone who figures he payed his debt to society and wants to go straight.

Of course, Skreyola has it right - a person has to want to change for the better. But prison ministries are a big help, and the stats clearly show they reduce recidivism. But as Skrey pointed out, they keep getting kicked out in the name of "Separation of Church & State".

And don't forget, God gave us a second chance through Christ...

I respond as I read. Sometimes people have beaten me to the reply, but I don't see that until I've already posted.

It was a thoughtful response. Thank you.

Where are you going?

I've got to go to sleep now, so hopefully you'll post an answer that I'll be able to read in the morning. (Okay, I can read in the morning as well as throughout the day and evening, and you're more than capable of writing coherently...I'm tired!)

Be safe! Have fun!

Dorme bien!

Would Gibbs-smacking you help?

(Who wants to take bets I'll be in the same frenzy a week from tonight as I prepare for NY?)

I'm going to my parents cabin on the beach for the weekend. I don't have to pack too much since I won't even leave the cabin until Sunday.

But I do have to get my kitchen emptied so that's kind of a pain. I was going to scrub my floor but decided against it. If they want it clean before they cover it, they can do it.

Now I'm just waiting for my laundry to finish. *sigh*

I'll be on tomorrow though so we can chat then!

Good morning, everyone. Man, I'm up EARLY! Waaaay before the alarm! I've got a very busy day at work today... my paperwork is really behind because I've had several training days the past few weeks. That means 4 days a week to get 5 days worth of work done. There's about 8-10 hours worth of work to be done if I have no interruptions. The reason I have to get it all done today? Two training days next week.

Is it just me, or has this week FLOWN???????

I did a major scrubdown on mine 2 weeks ago, so it's not too bad! *grins*

We won't talk about my bedroom, though...

I went in my daughter's bathroom yesterday (she has the master bedroom, she's a teenager...), and I tho't she was working on a science experiment until I remembered that it's summer....

She didn't like too much when I reminded her that the privilege of her own bathroom came with the responsibility of cleaning it....
