I don't think that sounds bad at all. I totally understand! And I would have an extremely hard time being around him myself, from all you have posted that I have read.

Our CPS case for the Ritalin garbage is being closed unfounded. Thank you, God. I needed that good news today.

The worker just stopped by and called Brian, since he won't be home much any time she is working. No, I did not mention any of this other stuff to her...I just want that case CLOSED, no matter what we do with what is going on now.

Karaboo2 -> RE: July ... picnics, pools, and parties ... and a homeschool chat thread! (7/2/2008 3:18:11 PM)

Woohoo Donna!!! Glad that something is going right at the moment!!!

(((hugs))) for all the other stuff though ... I really wish CPS would just get it right and get him away from the momster!

cynthia -> RE: July ... picnics, pools, and parties ... and a homeschool chat thread! (7/2/2008 3:48:51 PM)

Jennifer, I could be that Fritz arranged the marriage. It does seem odd that he didn't discuss it with you first though. [8|]

TL and I are sewing shorts that have a fly. Never buy New Look patterns. They are the most ridiculous thing. The directions are so convoluted that I got a headache trying to follow them AND figure out their unclear directions. Not only that, but it was actually missing a pattern piece. I have never had that happen. Fortunately it was only a carrier (belt loop) piece, but still.

I love to sew, but I usually sew simple things. I avoid zippers and rows of buttons. A button here or there is okay, but when I have to line them up - watch out. I have not sewn a zipper and years and have only sewn a fly once, about 27 years ago. I don't remember a thing about it either. I wish my grandma could come help me, but she's with Jesus now. My second pick is my sister, but she's in Louisiana. Next is the stack of books on sewing I own and looking at actual pants with flies.

Finally, I found a scrap of fabric that was big enough to cut out the front, fly and the underlap. We are practicing on that before making the actual pants. I don't want to mess up our good fabric and ruin all our work, so hopefully this practice run will save us. If these shorts turn out, we are going to make another pair right away, before we forget what we did right. [sm=icon_smile_idea.gif]

That made me laugh.

And yeah, Fritz should have talked to me about it...I mean, everyone knows I want to be married, but to just declare me as such without warning is a bit OTT.

Oh my goodness, Annie. Have you contacted the state insurance commissioner? That might get you somewhere.

Karaboo2 -> RE: July ... picnics, pools, and parties ... and a homeschool chat thread! (7/2/2008 4:13:50 PM)

Careful gals ... if you fixed your status to say Married, you may very well be divorced by now!!! The settings have changed again!

[sm=icon_smile_faint.gif]Thanks for the warning. I fixed it again.

Karaboo2 -> RE: July ... picnics, pools, and parties ... and a homeschool chat thread! (7/2/2008 4:58:49 PM)

LOL ... I'm wondering what our hubbies would say if they knew we dated, married and divorced them all in a single day!!!

PrincessDonna -> RE: July ... picnics, pools, and parties ... and a homeschool chat thread! (7/2/2008 5:01:28 PM)

Mine laughed. Of course, at that point, we were married once again, so it was all good.[8D]

Jenny-Fair -> RE: July ... picnics, pools, and parties ... and a homeschool chat thread! (7/2/2008 5:48:27 PM)

I've been widowed since lunch.[&:]

Ellie-Mae -> RE: July ... picnics, pools, and parties ... and a homeschool chat thread! (7/2/2008 5:52:09 PM)

Awwww, Jen. and you didn't even get to meet him. I wonder if he had life insurance. Should we have a funeral?

Jenny-Fair -> RE: July ... picnics, pools, and parties ... and a homeschool chat thread! (7/2/2008 5:53:00 PM)

Maybe just a moment of silence?

Donna, that's good! Ya just have to make sure that it's totally erased from everywhere. Some of the states keep you on some kind of record EVEN THOUGH the case is unfounded!!![sm=icon_smile_faint.gif][sm=icon_smile_faint.gif][sm=icon_smile_faint.gif]

Praying about the insurance battle, homegrown. Don't give up!

Yay! Case closed for Princess Donna!

Jen, I'm so sorry for your loss [;)]

I checked and my marital status has not changed. So I'm still married

One of the side affects that can occur from the radioactive iodine treatment is to lose one's ability to taste. I have pretty much lost mine. Starburst candy tastes almost like wax. I have to make myself eat because nothing tastes very good. I am finding myself not able to sleep at night because I haven't eaten enough during the day. I get up and make a snack of tortilla chips, sharp cheddar cheese and pepperoni. I can barely taste the salt on the tortillas. I can't taste the sharp cheddar and the pepperoni only has a little flavor.[&o] I am sure that I am going to lose weight. I hope this doesn't last long though. I feel really messed up. It is hard to want to eat or to remember to eat when food doesn't have much if any flavor.

I can fully relate. One of the side affects of bell's palsy is loss of taste...in fact it was the first thing that clued me in on something being wrong initially...I couldn't taste the usually extremely salty ramen noodles I was eating. After 19 months I still don't have much of my taste sense back...probably never will. I HATE bland foods!!!!

Ellie-Mae -> RE: July ... picnics, pools, and parties ... and a homeschool chat thread! (7/2/2008 7:35:23 PM)

At least with me, it is supposed to be temporary. Will you ever get your taste back? I just can't imagine being like this forever. I don't know how you bring yourself to eat when everything is a matter of texture and not flavor.

It was the second sign for me (first was my normal eye tic but at warp speed), but originally I thought I had bought a can of miraculously tasteless olives...but then I couldn't taste the Feta cheese, either, and knew THAT was a problem!

Jenny-Fair -> RE: July ... picnics, pools, and parties ... and a homeschool chat thread! (7/2/2008 9:50:32 PM)

Would any of you take kindly to someone telling you that you needed to 'get on' a particular academic area with one of your kids? In this case, it is handwriting and Nate based on her DH's inability to correctly read the phone number he wrote (although she could read it just fine, obviously, since she just called to tell me Nate's handwriting was awful and I need to 'get on' that).[:@]

And she is not a relative or anything.

Actually, this particular person is always saying annoying things to me, so perhaps it seemed worse than it was.

Bagel -> RE: July ... picnics, pools, and parties ... and a homeschool chat thread! (7/2/2008 9:58:08 PM)

I don't think I would ever be that bold to tell someone that. I don't even tell my best friend that her own handwriting needs improvement.

JuliaHop -> RE: July ... picnics, pools, and parties ... and a homeschool chat thread! (7/2/2008 10:00:17 PM)

Jennifer...take a deep breath and relax... (sorry someone decided to be annoying).

Ellie-Mae: My fil had radiation therapy many, many years ago and lost both his taste and saliva. He had to use artificial saliva to eat his meals for a fair amount of time. He spent his time fixing rather disgusting concoctions that would satisfy his craving for flavor. If I remember correctly, Heinz 57 sauce was one of his favorite additives. I'm sorry, but biscuits, beans, and buttermilk (one of his favorite foods) was bad enough all mushed together but when he added Heinz 57??? [:'(]

Karaboo2 -> RE: July ... picnics, pools, and parties ... and a homeschool chat thread! (7/2/2008 10:04:43 PM)

Jennifer ... I've got someone riding my tail about the kids too ... that they aren't doing "enough" work, and that ds should be writing a lot better than he is (he is 5, and she thinks he should have perfect penmanship -- both manuscript and cursive) ... and dd (age 7) should be fully versed in multiplication and long division. Whatever ... they are learning everyday and they are happy ... that's what is important to me. This person overlooks the fact that dd has taught ds to read ... and that ds can tell you anything and everything about the inner workings of complex machinery.

I feel for ya!

cindybode -> RE: July ... picnics, pools, and parties ... and a homeschool chat thread! (7/2/2008 10:48:12 PM)

Lisa, now is the time to find your nearest Quaker Steak and order the atomic wings. [;)]

{{{Donna}}} I'm sorry. I don't know what to say. I am not sure I could have handled a similar situation with the degree of love and grace you've shown to Nick.

We've been out all day, seeing movies and going to the park and library and finally ending up at the church picnic. We had fun, but we're all tired, and now Jesse has a sore throat and a fever. [sm=popsigh.gif]

My car will most likely be fixed tomorrow. [:)] At this moment I have no idea how I'm paying for it, but it'll be fixed. I didn't actually talk to Bryan so I'm not certain he'll take the postdated check, but if not then it'll just have to sit in his lot till next Wednesay. Either way he won't see money till then, and I'm pretty sure he trusts me enough to pay him even if I take the car tomorrow. At least it'll give me something to drive that doesn't suck premium gas up through a very large straw. [&:]

Jennifer, you didn't even invite me to the wedding. I'm crushed. [8D]
