Ez, Thanks for asking! Sam is going back to the eye doctor today at 11:15. I think we will find out is a newly developed sensitivity to her contacts, as the steroid drops seem to be making things better instead of worse. I'll post after we get back. Mai is seeming much happier. We are all going to a state park in SC this afternoon, so that should be fun for her. Ds is back from a youth group camp. I praise God for the good success of that trip! The youth group meets very close to our home on Wednesday nights. It is not *our* church, but he is welcome there and it has home schooled boys besides him. Yay! And more great news about Sam! Her Dad talked to her last night after she found out on myspace that Michael has a new girlfriend. She was crying, but she is already doing great this morning. She had an epiphany, that there is the natural grief when faced with loss, and then there is the flesh taking over and screaming for pity *poor poor pitiful me*. She decided to kill her flesh today, and just say no to the wallowing in sorrow. She is bright and happy and even grateful to be free and wondering how she missed such serious character flaws while "in love". I am having a good day. Plus I found a book, The Explosive Child, that is going to save me a lot of grief this fall in working with my ADHD young friend. The interesting thing about the book, on a good day, when all my needs are met and I am not under any pressure, it is how I deal with children anyway. In fact I wondered what was the big difference between days we negotiated conflict well and days he would have a melt down. Now I know. When I feel pressured, I don't want to talk, I want instant obedience. With normal kids that's doable, but when you have a kid who is freaking out (with this kid mostly due to anxieties he needs help expressing and then addressing), they just feel shut down and the terror takes over. Now that I see how critical it is to his learning process, I can keep on my toes all the time, whether it is coming to me automatically or I need to remind myself. It is going to be such a good year for him compared to last year in public school!

In a few minutes I am off to the new job. Could you please pray for the boys? Yesterday Brandon was gone the entire day (I have no idea where), and I suspect it'll be the same today. Which means Nate will be home alone. Now, he's old enough and responsible enough, but he gets lonely.

Okay, it's way late here on the east coast and I don't suppose anyone is up, but could ya'll please remember to pray for my foreign exchange student Mai? And me. Probably more me. I took her to the river today, to one of my favorite state parks. I also took Sam and the two kids she babysits and their Golden Retriever. The youngest kids, the dog and I had a great time in the water. Sam got some reading done for college. Mai just kind of sat there. She did smile once when Sam brought her a little frog. And I did get her to go out with me to an island in the middle of the river on stepping stones, once the 8 year old and I headed out there. I am just so tired of trying to make her happy. I was all psyched about this foreign exchange program, because they emphasized that we did not have to do anything special while they were with us. As 4-Hers, we were told they were all about learning about America and how real Americans live. I think Mai is quite disappointed that we are not the family in her favorite American TV show, the Tanner family from Full House. I am not seeing any effort on her part to "get into" our family or our lives. And I am exhausting myself trying to make her happy. Rant over. I'm going to bed now. I'm sure it will all look better in the morning.

I'm glad you have some people who are willing to help, Jen. Boy, when you said the job was temporary, I didn't think it would be just two days. Is that at least long enough to get the unemployment people off your back? (((Shadow))) Sorry it's not working out. Sounds like you're trying to do all you can.

If I had known they only planned one day, I would NEVER have taken the job. I don't think the unemployment people will care much, actually, lol. But I am seriously hoping to hear from the people at the interpretive center next week! You could all pray about that if you liked.

I'm praying for the perfect job, no matter where it is.

Yeah, he was not happy about it. Nate said today he tried to get him to give it to him, and Nate wanted to know why Brandon thought he was that stupid, lol.
