There are those who feel as if Christian music is somehow second class citizen to the music of the secular world, in particular the groups such as yourselves, or any of the groups found on Christian radio airwaves. With that in mind, what do you think the real role of Christian artist should be... artistic minded first or ministry minded should come first? In other words, where do you place you talents and abilities in song writing and instrument playing, is that secondary to the message that is portrayed through your music?

What does the name "Casting Crowns" mean, and why did you decide to use it as the band name?

I understand that you're coming out with a new Christmas project this fall. Are you using familiar Christmas songs or writing new ones? I can't wait to hear it!

- When you guys are writing songs for a new album, what do you feel is the best inspiration(s) for your music? (ie: The Gospels? Personal experiences? Emotions? Relationships with God?)

- Do you feel that its easier or harder to write Christian music in comparison to secular music?

- When writing/performing Christian music, do you ever have differences of opinions that rise up among each of you regarding the messages you're trying to get across in the songs? Such as that one of you doesn't agree with what's being said, or maybe that some of the wording in the song isn't appropriate for what you're trying to convey to the audience?

(And finally, one really selfish question)

I have a close friend of mine who's 31st birthday is coming up in early August. Any chance I could get you guys to make and send to her an autographed picture for her of your band? She's a HUGE fan of Casting Crowns, and something like that would really make her birthday.

Besides that, I made her mad, recently, and this would help make up for things.

(I realize that I have about as much chance of this happening as I do of winning the lottery, but here's to hope and praying.)

How do you balance family life and work and still keep God the top priority?

You must get tons of e-mails, letters, etc. from people who feel like they have no hope. How do you keep it in perspective?

I know Mark has ADD and dyslexia, does that affect how a concert goes sometimes?

How did your band originate? Do you have any tips for someone who wants to start a christian band?
