OK ... now for some seriously offending stuff.

What do you think of the CERN experiment to recreate The Big Bang physical conditions? Full story here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/bigbang/experiment.shtml

On TV this morning they suggested this scientific experiment of re-creating The Big Bang could itself create a black hole which would swallow the planet and herald the end of the world. This could either happen instantly or it could develop over a four years period - i.e. 2012.

Forgive me if I'm wrong - I always thought the world would not end before the last episode of "Lost".

If they could accomplish it before the elections in November, it would be a welcome relief from what's sure to make the Bush/Gore election look like a church picnic among friends.

Amen, Jimbo! If they could just hold off long enough for my husband to come to know the Lord, then anytime after that, I'm cool with!

What does that say about my life?

And another thing ... seeing JimboFletch mentioned politics.

A politician knocked at my door the other day and asked me: Do you believe in free speech?

I said: Yes, of course I do.

He replied: Good ... can I use your phone please?

Just pay it in your heart. Call them up and tell them you don't owe them any money because you paid it in your heart. Come on! Go for it!

Okay, my little joke fell flat. Only a Messianic would get it. I know.

Do I dare leave that there?

Will you all forgive me?

I have been entirely too silly lately. Sorry.

I am just tired of being serious, so I cracked my funny bone. Only problem is that I am the only one who thinks I'm funny. That's offensive.

Thank you Covaan,

I rang them and said "I'd pay them in my heart".

To my surprise they agreed to consider it. They rang half-an-hour later and said their heart advised them to cut me off.

Now I have no phone ...

Hey! It worked well! What kind of wood are you using? Or are you doing this by burning your bills and junk mail?

Hi Covaan,

Don't start me off about junk mail. Here in the UK we are obliged to re-cycle. So we have black bins for general household trash, green bins for garden stuff like plants, grass cutting and branches etc.. (beware no mud though or you'll be fined heavily) and orange bins for papers, junk mail, envelopes etc ...

Our home receives at least twenty different items of junk mail (not enveloped) a week, plus a similar amount in envelopes, plus two free newspapers a week with umpteen inserts full of adverts. When you receive a utility bill (phone, electricity, water etc ...) invariably it is also accompanied with adverts. Also catalogues from a well known Swedish furniture firm, and other catalogues from various shops.

Instead of re-cycling all this (to save the planet I suppose !!! ?) why not stop producing them in the first place?

Sorry to moan ... your message was timely. I've just put out the bins for collection tomorrow.

I get offended when my communication company (which I wanted to avoid but is the only real option where I live) keeps sending me materials telling me this: I would be saving money by using their combined t.v., internet, phone package.
They would be saving money not mailing me this stuff since I already have their combo package then maybe they could charge their customers a bit less.

I am offended by the local cable company sending me ads almost every single day. If I wanted their services, I would have signed up for their services. I'm keeping my dish thank you very much!

Just received my mail.

Three items, in envelopes, addressed to me. All of them adverts which went straight in the re-cycling bin.

One of them from a provider of combined TV, Broadband Internet and phone service.

I was offended on my way home last night with the paranoia that gripped our community regarding the "rumors" of increased gas prices. The gas stations were remeniscent of the 70's gas shortage...absolutely ridiculous with lines out onto the streets, traffic blocked and people losing their tempers.

I was so offended that I didn't even stop to get any and now...most of the tanks in EVERY gas station are empty!

I remember when that happened here right after Katrina. We also had added rumors that electric bills were going to go up four fold!

People did the same thing around here on 9/11 - unfounded panic over what might happen to the price of gas. It's yet another example of the line from an old cartoon, "We have met the enemy and it is us!"
