Homegrownkids -> Way of the Master (7/8/2008 8:44:22 AM)

I wasn't sure if this should go here or in general Faith. I was actually looking for a forum that I thought already existed but couldn't find it. I just wanted to read/hear about people's comments on the show, or the ministry of Way of the Master.

We have a 'Way of the Master' thread in the 'Church' sub-forum. That is usually the forum where you will find information and discussion on popular preachers, church movements, false teachers and false prophets, etc..

It is HERE

i love way of the master. they are not biased in their viewpoints. they simply support the Word of God and host those that do as well.

What i have seen, I was not impressed. They continue to use if you dont your going to hell scare tactics. In the early 80's this would have been effective, but since the rise or the explosion of information, the adversary has flooded the world with subject matter that uses enough truth to make the weak or new in faith, or those going thru a crisis in faith, that can make them stumble, and if there is not one to disciple them they fall. Productions like the Gospel of Judas, the Tomb of Jesus, and fiction supposedly based on fact like the DaVinci code. Handing out tracs are useless unless 1- you believe in the message and not blindly handing them out 2-The trac is ment for the persons situation they are going thru, ex; abortion trac when the person is in the place where abortion seems the best way out. And the odds are high for the trac to get in the hands of this person by chance. If we are to be disciples of the Lord like we are commisioned to be we must first be familiar with the word and 2nd met a need. In the Gospels Jesus and the apostles meet a need before the word is preached.

Todd,

I see you're not aware of TWOTM when it comes to them tackling the issues you brought up. Their radio arm of their ministry does indeed deal with apologetics and the topics of the day. Just an FYI.

Little_1 -> RE: Way of the Master (7/13/2008 3:30:53 PM)

I have watched a few WOTM shows and have the book.

I believe the two presenters on WOTM present the Truth in a clear and honest way. They explain that we have choices and there are consequences regarding our choices.

I do believe that they balance out God's love and mercy equally well with God's justice and wrath.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by that. Do you mean "If you don't do it our way, you're going to hell." or "If you don't repent, you're going to hell." Because I seem to remember a couple of prophets preaching something similar.

Generally speaking, I'm not into "movements", but I've seen some good fruit come from the way of the master. They seem Biblically sound. I've never seen the show (we don't have American TV) and have only taken a cursory glance at the website.

I'd be interested to know if someone thought they weren't Biblically sound.

I really like way of the master. I think it is a good resource. I think it is not a scare tactic. The truth is if you don't repent you will go to hell. Please read some of Jesus Christ's fire-breathing sermons about repenting and hell. He's the One who talked about all of this "weeping and gnashing of teeth." Jesus goes a lot further than just saying, "Oh, and by the way, if you don't repent you'll go to hell." He says something of the equivalent of, "Oh, and you'll go to a firey oven called hell where you'll be burning, and screaming, and tormented for all eternity, and you will never be satisfied, afflicted with all manner of nightmares, fears, and horrors--and there will be no relief."

We've gotten too Politically correct. Tell people the truth. Yeah, they'll hate it. Hey, they'll probably even hate you for telling them--but at least they will know the truth. It's not a scare tactic, unless you really don't believe there is a horrid place call hell--it's the truth.

AlphaCentauri -> RE: Way of the Master (8/20/2008 7:32:59 AM)

I have the book and a set of DVDs. I believe TWOTM gives a balanced clear and simple presentation of the gospel. It is a way of making people aware of the reality of life and death. The truth is there is a hell and heaven. People are going to one or another whether they like it or not.

I have used TWOTM principles when talking to people and i've found it a great way to bring the gospel into the conversation.
