I am an avid believer that there is power in music. I have always believed deep down we can keep a beat for a reason. It's just another way that God has set us apart from the beasts of the earth... ok, so now what? Now... we as the guiding parents have a choice to make... Christian or Secular... what do you choose? I completely believe in a little phrase that I heard a long time ago...
"Garbage in... Garbage out".
That means that if you polute yourself with a bunch of information that tears down the values that our master teaches us, then that will leak out into other parts of our life. I have been listening to Christian music for a long time now.... but before that I used to listen to Rock, Country, Rap, and many other genre's of music. After listening to music that builds up instead of tares down, it is a clear choice. As for me and my house... We will serve the Lord. That means that as long as I have power and authority over my children, they will listen to the music that I choose for them. They have several other areas in their lives that they get to choose, but this topic of music is definately one that I (their earthly dad and mentor) will choose for them.
You might think that this is difficult and dominating... Well, no... not really. My son is 6 years old. He is at a point where he just takes right up to what he is taught, what he is around, and personalities influencing. You can see it when he comes home from school with a new enlightenment. Well, if this world is going to slowly and utterly tear down my children, then I will fight back. It's easy though... I just present some different music to my son and let him choose what he likes... all of it is of course God Loving. Here's some kids music that he REALLY likes. You should check it out. Tell me what you think... This lady is a friend of mine.
