First of all, I'm new here and was browsing when I saw this post. So now, I'll give you one of my granddaughter's "darndest things"...
I was laying on the sofa with my feet up when my 6 year old granddaughter came over and we started talking. I told her my foot hurt, but when I get to Heaven, I'll have a new body. She said, "Nana, you NEED one!" Curious, I asked Why? She said, "Cause you have those squiggly lines all over your face!" She thought I needed a new body because of the wrinkles in my face! I laughed to tears! She was confused by my laughter, but we did follow up with a great talk of "When we all get to heaven"!
I have raised this little girl since the day she was born. I brought her home from the hospital, looked at her little body in the bassinette, and thought what a wonderful, amazing thing this is, to be a grandma and have a new baby to raise all over again!

Hello to everyone here!

This one isn't a "darndest thing" but I wanted share because...it's just toooo cute.

My son Tommy who is 2, LOVES music. If he hears a song that he is familiar with, he will sing along. Especially in the car. Right now, the CD player in our car has one of the Hillsongs United CDs in it. One of the songs is "Hosanna". Every time the chorus comes around Tommy will shout at the top of his lungs, "SAAAAAANNNA~! SAAANNNNA~! SANA da hi-est!"

Gotta love those Tommys! I have one, but he's 18--all grown up, but still can say some very funny things! (see my earlier post).

My grandson's name is Tommy too...like his dad...however, for whatever reason, he has been called....Bubba....since birth.

So...Bubba it is....or Bubs....or Bubaloo.

Our grandson's name is Anthony... but we all call him Bubba! It started when Shelby (at the left) tried calling him "brother"... and it came out Bubba... so it stuck. But now everyone calls him "Bubba Dude."

Okay! I got a "darndest thing" now!

This happened yesterday at my mother-in-law's house.

MIL (grandma) was watching my daughter after school, but she was rather tired after watching a guest's child a few hours before. My daughter (Kristen) who is 6 years old was playing with her cousin (Zac), who is 4 years old and they were trying to decide what kind of game they were going to play. They ended up deciding to play "Doctor" and wanted grandma to play with them. Then they needed to decide who will play what part. Kristen explained to grandma, "Old people seem to break their bones a lot or have stomach problems, so you should be the patient. I'll be the nurse, and Zac will be the doctor."

...grandma had to lie on the couch for about 30 min. as the patient (which she was rather grateful for because she was really tired).

So funny how kids percieve "old."

When my son was about 5 or 6 (he is 28 now) I took him into an antique store with me. I came across and old plaid lunch box, and said, "Oh wow, here's an old lunch box just like the one I had when I was a little kid." My son replied with, "They had lunch boxes back then?"

Last night during dinner, I asked my daughter what she wanted to dress up as for the All Saint's Night Festival (in lieu of Halloween & Trick O' Treatin') Costume Contest.

Kristen: "Mommy, I wanna be a fairy. I wanna be Tinkle-Bell!

Me: "Tinkle-Bell?"

Kristen: "Yah! The fairy in that story with the boy who can fly around and fights pirates".

Tinkle-Bell.... God bless my little girl's heart.

That's cute...

Reminds me that Pastors say the darndest things too...

There was a woman in my old church named Martha Tinkle (fictitious first name)...
There was a function getting ready to take place, and the pastor announced that he would be late because he was "going to see Martha Tinkle."

When everyone erupted in laughter, it took him a few seconds to figure it out.

Back to kids...

The other day, my son-in-law was putting our granddaughter in her car seat.
<----- (This one)
She didn't want to go in the car seat... and was squirming and fussing.
My son-in-law began telling her to knock it off or he was going to punish her.
In her very best drama queen fashion (which by the way is identical to her mommy!)... she placed her hand over her face and huffed out an exasperated... "I'm Busy."

(These are priceless! I hope you keep this thread going!)

Many years ago, my Husband, our three young Daughters and I were going for a ride in the car. Suddenly, our middle Daughter (about age 5)
looked out the window, points and says; "Daddy, I see smoke!"
My Husband says; "Yes. That is from the factory. Smoke comes out of the smoke stacks and goes up into the sky..."
To which our Daughter replies; "Is God coughing?"

DS was born the end of November. DD1 was almost 5. I explained some of the basics of child birth to her. When my parents were visiting after his birth (or maybe at Christmas) my mom read DD1 a Bible story. It happened to be about Jesus' birth. At the end there were a couple questions. Number 1: Where was Jesus born. DD's answer: she pointed between her legs.

We signed our daughter up for an after-school activity that occurs twice a week. Dodge-Ball. She thoroughly enjoyed running around the field for 45 minutes. At the end, the coach asked the kids to name one thing they learned in playing dodge-ball. Kristen was the first to raise her hand, and she answered:

"What I learned is that it hurts when the ball hits you in the face."

My grandson has a stuffed little white kitten he calls...Midnight. He sleeps with it every night and its with him a lot.

One day when his mom went to pick him up from kindergarden, she forgot to bring Midnight with her. When Bubba, my gs, asked where Midnight was, she told him that Midnight was taking a nap.

Now everyday before he goes to school he tells his mom to be sure she wakes Midnight up to come to school.

Yeah, Pstrdebi, it's not only the little kids that keep us laughing!

This week my 15-year-old daughter was being tested for allergies. The place where she had to go was nowhere near her school and they closed fairly early in the afternoon, so I had to take her out of school a few minutes early three days this week to have the test applied and read. Thursday was the last day, but because of my schedule, I wasn't going to see my kids before they went to school Thursday morning, so I left a note reminding them to be in the school office ten minutes before school let out again that day. When I got to the school, they weren't in the office, so the secretary sent a student office runner, another 15-year-old, to get them. My son came on along, but my daughter still needed fetched. The office is not in the same building as the rest of the school, so he was outside for a little while. He came back in a few minutes talking about a lizard he'd seen as he'd gone. (Bear with me; the lizard will come back into the story.)

After a couple minutes, my daughter, Joy, showed up, and explained why she wasn't there when planned:

Joy: Your note was confusing.

Me: It said to be in the office at 3:10 pm.

Joy: It said "Don't"

Me: It said "Don't forget."

Joy: Ohhhhh!

After everybody in the office got a laugh about that, we got in the car and headed for our appointment. Joy then described how the office runner had come to get her from her algebra class. He burst through the door and exclaimed, "I saw a lizard and I need Joy Travis!"
