There is a little boy at our church (he turned 1 on Thursday) who is having major heart surgery tomorrow. They will have to be at the hospital at 6 AM. It's a good hospital but his condition is so rare they've only done a few of these surgeries and he is by far the youngest. He has a tumor that blocks a big part of his blood flow through his heart. His parents are good friends and in my home fellowship group. His grandparents are also a dear couple and grandfather is an elder in our church. He also has an aunt in our church. This extended family recently lost twin babies who were born at 20 weeks in March. These twins are the cousins of this little boy having surgery tomorrow.

I certainly will pray for him! Please keep us updated. It sounds like this family has been through a lot of heartache too.

Praying that God will hold this little boy in the palm of his hand throughout the operation and that it will be performed without complication. I pray that the Lord will use the doctors, nurses and anyone that has a hand in caring for this little one and his family, use them to perform HIS miracles! Keep us updated! Blessings, Garsy

That they have. It is the little boy's(I'll call himW) paternal family that goes to our church. W's grandmother has health issues and has a guide dog and missed a lot of church this spring because she was sick and couldn't take her regular meds. W's aunt his some disorder that keeps her in a wheelchair and also has a guide dog. She lives independently but her father (the attorney and elder) is a big help to her. W's dad has diabetes but that's manageable and minor compared to other health issues in the family.

Lord, I pray for this family and this precious baby. Please be with them tomorrow as this baby goes through this major surgery. Please be with all the dr's tomorrow, guide them, give them steady hands Lord, and make this surgery smooth and easy for them. Please let baby W heal and rest after all this is over with Lord... Sorry, I was working iwth my dad for about 4 hours and the surgery was scheduled to go for 4-6 hrs. I just got home and had this email: quote: Please join J and I in praising God for a positive outcome for W's surgery! We just saw the little guy roll past the waiting room on the way back to ICU. His doctor says that they were successfully able to remove over one-half the tumor, which removed all the tissue causing blood flow problems to be removed. Their were no complications with his heart valve and it seems that their are not problems with his heart rhythm. We are still awaiting a biopsy of the tumor, but the doctors are of the opinion that it will regress and disappear. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. Please do continue to pray for a speedy recovery.

Just got an update from the mom: quote: It is now 2:30 pm and they are taking him off the ventilater. He is doing very well and has good color. It also had a lot of the first one in it. That was the only new news I'm heading otu to my other job. I'll let you know when I get home if there's more news.

Newest update: quote: W had the A line taken out of his hip and was taken off several of the other IV lines this morning. He is out of the oxygen tent and his blood pressure is doing well. He sat up in bed and drank a cup of juice. Currently, he is resting well and they are waiting for a bed for him to be moved to the intermediate care unit.

New update from mom: 7/15 - PM report quote: He is comfortable with only tylenol every 4 hours (this totally amazes me after such a major surgery). His blood levels look great also. They are weaning him off the D10 and should be off of it by 8AM Wednesday as long as his glucose levels stay regulated. Once the D10 is stopped, then they will take out the central line in his neck. After that there is not much more before he can come home. Things are looking good that he may come home by Thursday. For the most part he is very content, he has started to cry whenever the nurses or doctors come to his bedside. He doesn't want to be fussed with anymore. The best part about the whole day is that we got to hold him for the first time since we sent him with anestethia on Monday morning at 7:30AM. If he comes home on Thursday that is great.

Thank You Father for successful surgery... we pray for complete healing for him, for ALL of the tumour to be removed with no scar tissue. We ask in Jesus Name. Amen.

The great news continues..... quote: W is coming home tonight (Wednesday)!!! Yippee!!! Yahoo!!! Can you believe that? His echocardiogram looked really good. He had no fluid around the heart and there is no narrowing so the blood flow is great. Therefore, they took out the drain tube and will be taking out the central line in his neck very soon. He has eaten very well today and has had normal bowels. He has been sitting and playing a lot today. He even pulled himself up on his knees to reach over the rails of his bed. Now we just have to do all the follow up appointments and follow any restrictions they give us. There will be several appointments in the next 6 weeks and he will continue to see his cardiologist on a regular basis after that to monitor the remaining piece of the tumor which is less than 2 cm in diameter now. Keep in mind that this thing was just shy of 7cm in diameter before the surgery. They will be monitoring the val ves to ensure the tiny bit of leakage goes away with healing. However, they assure us that this leakage is very minor and nothing to worry about. Wyatt no longer has to take his medication three times a day. He will be taking a new medication one time a day for the next two weeks. Additionally, they will be able to tell us more about the biopsy next week on Wednesday at our pre-op appointment. Praise GOd!!
