garsyt -> RE: reading death notices/obits? (7/27/2008 9:52:33 PM)

Occasionally I'll read the obits if I pick up a paper or think about catching them on-line. What's really sad is when you read this really glowing obit about someone you know and you wonder if the author of it had any idea who the person really was. I read one one time that portrayed this person as a pillar of the community, a man of God, active in his church and community, a friend to all, and loved by all who knew him. [&:] I wondered if the person who wrote this didn't make a mistake and think they were writing about someone else! I lived next door to this man for a few years and he was a cantankerous, grumpy, irritating old busybody that cussed at my kids if they left toys laying out in OUR yard! He grumped every time our yard wasn't mowed the same day his was (we rented and the mowing was the rental companies responsibility). I mean I felt bad when the guy died, but his glowing obit did NOT at all tell the truth, unless he was a completely different person before we moved into the neighborhood. Seriously I didn't think I was that horrible a neighbor! Blessings, Garsy
