OH, I am so HAPPY for you all!

I don't know if I expect that you slept well because you are all exhausted or were up all night, just watching him. Probably somewhere between the two.

No matter - welcome to your home Issac. Let mom and dad sleep once in a while...

We made it through our first night. Him and his daddy are sleeping now. Here's the "rundown" of the week...

Saturday we get to the NICU and as we walk in Isaac makes eye contact with me, glares at the nurse, the pulls out his feed tube....for the last time.
We have a good nursing session then he gets his shots and things go downhill from there. We lost several ounces because he wasnt eating enough. "Super Serious" doctor rounded and said get 40mls per feeding down him or the feed tube goes back in. Well we had a battle but we hit the 40ml mark everytime and sometimes exceeded it. But we still didnt gain weight yet. He rounded again and said 40mls minimum and 45mls optimal and weight gain for 48hours. Well we gained weight and averaged 50mls, and had a weight gain, but it was still not 48 hours. "Laid Back" doctor rounded Wednesday morning and said "ya'll ready to go home" and we were discharged with instructions to "do whatever he wants" (in regards to eating.) We are still really pushing the 40mls because unless we push him hard he will not eat enough at all and we dont want to loose weight. We are not nursing yet, my supply is too wonky and he is too weak, but we are going to start working up to that at some point soon.

We have our little home monitor on him, he wears a soft little "belt" around his chest that connects to his "purse" with his monitor. So far it hasnt gone off, alarms or false alarms.

He's been very gassy and fussy and hard to get to eat since we've been home but I am blaming some of that on how stressful yesterday way for us all. He did much better this morning. We are trying to find a good bottle/nipple combo for him, I'll probably run to Walmart here in a bit and find a selection. We are also trying to get him on an incline for sleeping since he seems to do better that way.

Erin factor in shots of any kind and that can make him fussy too.

Isabel is a bear for 24 hrs after shots it seems, doesn't want to eat normal and has some seriously explosive stinky diapers.

Hang in there!!!!

So good to have the man home!

After the shots wore off he was doing much better. However we had still lost and to make up for lost time.

Isaac is just constipated and the most gassy baby in the world...but I'll save the poop talk for the Baby Chat thread.

I LOVE it. I really like knowing that kids have spirit and spunk. They are tough to raise (I have two) but seem to do so much with their potiential rather than some of their more passive peers.

Erin - thank you so much for sharing Issac's journey here. It brings such joy to read your excitement and I have been on pins-n-needles for y'all.

My daughter had to have "simethicone" (sp?) with EVERY feeding or she was miserable! Don't know if this would work for him, or if it really is good for their digestion or anything. But she would scream without it.

We've been giving it to him, it does help some. We dont like to give it every time if we can help it but he gets it pretty much every other feeding.

I remember being out (running errands or whatever) and having to go buy some because I forgot it at home. But it was worth it!

Wow, Isaac is HOME!!!!

Thank You, dear Lord Jesus, for keeping Your hand on this family of three, and for appointing these parents for Isaac. Thank You for the hospital staff who helped in his care, for safety as Klay and Erin drove back and forth, and for their home now being full with Isaac in it. Thank You for Your faithfulness to this wee child and to His family. Amen.

Sounds like Isaac was a bit fed up and just wanted to go home! I'll be praying that he eats well and doesn't lose weight.

Just so happy he is home!!!

We are all doing great.

Isaac now weighs 5lb 14.2oz.
We are having professional pics made in a few days.
He's taking the bottle really well so far, even wanting 50-70mls (instead of the 40 we had to force down him.)
He's awake more and oh so fun.

I just gave him a bath and am basking in the smell of clean baby! His Physical Therapist is coming over after lunch to work with him.

I am LOVING being a mommy.
