Titans 4-0 (If you count the throw-backs from NY, then Titans are 5-0). Who woulda thought? Bills 4-0, too? Giants 3-0 a bit easier to understand.

I bewildered like you on that one as well cow! Let's see how they are in Week 10. The Broncos are another surprise this year too!

Tonight's Steelers-Ravens match-up pits the leagues two stingiest defenses against each other. My Steelers have their work cut out for them since the Ravens are #1 against the pass and #3 against the rush. My only hope is that the Steelers are #2 against the rush and that is the bulk of the Ravens offense. Steelers have a better QB in Rothlisberger but without Parker I hope their running game isn't too afffected.

It should be a low scoring defensive game but now having said that it will surpass the Jets-Cards game in total points scored!

The kick is up...... It's good!!!! Phew! That was a close one! Another kicker has to win the game for their team. Sometimes I think those guys are underappreciated!

Well it that time of the week where I try, sometimes very badly, to predict the future. I really choked last week! 7-6 for the picks. 1-2 on my sure things! Well time to put on my thinking cap and make my picks.

Baltimore over Tennesee (Ravens stifling defense will make the difference)
Carolina over KC
Chicago over Detroit (Sure thing here)
Atlanta over Green Bay
Colts over Texans
San Diego over Miami (Sure thing 2)
NY Giants over Seattle
Washington over Philadelphia
TB over Broncos
Bills over Cards
Dallas over Cincinati (Sure thing here 3)
New England over San Francisco
Steelers over Jaguars
Saints over Vikings

I think they are showing the Niners-Pats game on a Station up here. What a great birthday present. I know the Niners-Hawks game was on up here but I wasn't in town and missed it.

Hopefully Pittsburgh picked up some RB and OL depth. The running backs are appearing closer to an episode of ER, and there needs to be some offensive line improvement if whoever the running back is and/or Roethlisberger wants to finish tonight's game in one piece.

Eagles lost. That makes their record 2-3. It's all the offense's fault. Defense played pretty well; even though they couldn't hold them back at the end, I've been pleased with how they've been doing.

I think the Steelers have a pretty good shot @ winning tonight.

Good to see Steve Young's jersey retired. A true champion....

But that was then. This is now. We have JT O'Sullivan. The Pats held the ball for 40 minutes, and JTO threw three picks. We can't even win at home. And when you cover Randy Moss, try not to slip . Good to know we are in the NFC West. At 2-3, we are alone in 2nd place behind Arizona. Yippee!

The NFC East is a bit tougher...

I am hoping Trent Edwards recovers from the concussion; he is crucial to the Bills success!

Tennessee won, going to 5-0, albeit on a controversial penalty.

I am picking the Steelers to beat the Jaguars...

And the Saints should beat the Vikings at the Dome!

Well the Eagles are now 2-3. Very disappointing. I think the Giants will pull it off again, as much as that pains me.

Dude, did you see the game? That makes two horrible losses in a row for them! And I've got to say that it's the offense's fault.

I listened to it. I was not reacting well to my meds today and I was in and out of consciousness while the game was on. My opinion is that they base too much around Brian Westbrook.

Reggie Bush was phenomenal on those two kick-off returns for TDs. I think he was on his way for a third when he slipped. He's got to be a little miffed at the defense for that lame offensive pass interference that set up the winning field goal.

Of course Gramatica blew three field goals having one blocked and run back for a defensive TD. The only time that happened in NFL history! Instead of putting nine more on the board, he cost them seven. He's no longer a kicker but the answer to a trivia question now. "Who was the kicker who..."

The Steelers want to give me a heart attack but they prevailed. Rothlisberger does not look as sharp as he once did. Thank God for that smiling Hines Ward and Reed (who could give Gramatica a lesson in consistency).

Was 9-7 for the week! I'd like to pick at least ten winners in a week but anything can happen in football!

Week 6 Progs:
Chicago over Atlanta (Orton's looking sharp)
Houston over Miami
Colts over Ravens (What a comeback last week over the Texans!)
Minnesota over Detroit (Hey, at least they have the Red Wings to cheer for!)
New Orleans over Oakland (Brees will have a better week)
Jets over Bengals
Carolina over Tampa Bay (Panthers are on fire)
Redskins will roast some lambs (Rams)
Denver over Jacksonville (this is pretty even match-up, should be a good game)
Arizona over Dallas (Trouncing the Bills last week made me change my mind on this one)
San Francisco over Philadelphia (Westbrook is injured and McNabb is still making dumb mistakes)
Green Bay over Seattle
New England over San Diego (Chargers finding all the ways to lose a game)
Giants over Browns (the Giants have been the only consistent dominant looking team on offense and defense)

BTW, did you hear Plaxico Burress' comments about the suspension. I thought he was kind of flippant and vague about his reasons but I liked his team attitude and not whining about his suspension and fine. Cow, the Giants are the giants in this league IMO.

Reggie played high school football here (with Alex Smith the 49er QB). After reading about his exploits, I went to one of his games, with a friends that was an alumni of the high school. Reggie was incredible better than the other people on the field. Neat to see that he hadn't peaked at that point.

I was happy to see that as well. I thought the Niners were going to m,ake the game interesting after the first quarter. But the Pats deserved to win cause they were the better team.

How bout the Dolphins though. Two weeks in a row they beat a team that went to the Playoffs

The Cards are looking good as well.

"Say it is so, Joe! I mean Cow! I've never spoken ill of your Giants! Especially since they represent the second best city in the US.

So to make you happy I'll quote King Julien from the movie "Madagascar"

"All Hail the New York Giants!"

Of course , if my Steelers beat them, I'll not shed a tear. Except maybe for joy!

It was all that So Cal sunshine growing up! And playing for the University of Spoiled Children (USC) always is a good thing! Are my biases showing! So you live in La Mesa? I've been an Ageleno all my life! But don't ask me about the Dodgers, I don't like baseball! Although I have to suffer through it during the sports report on the news.

Lo siento, senor, otra vez yo me olvide! (Accent over the "e")
My locks: Minnesota over Detroit, Washington over Rams and NY Giants over Cleveland (I heard a "Whoo-Hoo" from Cow!) Now these I'd definitely bet money on! Not that I condone gambling!

Last year I told folks that one of the best things to happen to the giants was the retirement of Tikki Barber. Then Shockey got hurt,I said it was good for the team that he was out of the picture.(he is a distraction). Then they became superbowl champs! Why did everyone count them out this year?
Even though the Cowboys lost to the Redskins, I still believe the Giants are the team to beat in the NFC east.
I still believ Romo is our weak link on offense. And why can't we run Felix Jones more. ARRGGHH!

Two letters: TO

....and all his whining about how the Cowboys don't win unless they give him the ball! Is he best friends with Kobe Bryant? He has great talent but an even greater ego!

Looks like Pittsburgh's off, which is good considering how beaten up they've been the last three weeks.

Amen to that! They've been winning but it's been real ugly! Hope the week off does them good!

Note: them = Giants

Short answer: because they were wrong. Me too.

A bit longer answer: The NFC East is the toughest division in football. And for over half of last year the Giants were very average (remember that horrible London game). Then the got hot and rode that heatwave to a remarkable Super Bowl championship. So people naturally wondered which Giants team was the real one. They hedged their bets somewhere in the middle leaning toward the way they started last year. That appears to be very wrong right now.

Cowboys v Cardinals

Cowboys will get tested today. Our weak secondary better play hard and pay attention because Old Man Warner is a tried and tested QB, and he still pretty darn good.

Well, we had about 3 quarters of decent football against the Eagles. But our OC couldn't make adjustments late in the game, our QB turned the ball over three times and allowed 3 sacks, and Nolan's blunders on coaches challenges were astounding!

Next stop--we face Manning the Great at the Meadowlands. We could be 2-6 when our bye rolls around.

Naturally, the local sports talk shows are predicting that Mike Nolan may not last through the season. Two Bay Area coaches get canned in a season.

I did not expect Arizona to be in first place....

I really don't get why the Niners coulden't finish the Eagles off. I am pretty sure we are going to lose to the Giants but with the way this season is going anything can happen. Then we play the Hawks at home and the way the hawks have played this year should be a interesting game for us. I didn't expect the Cardinals to be in first but with the way Warner is playing right now I am not to supprised.

Some really close games today though.
