Animal Logic II - second album by Stanley Clark (bass)/Stewart Copeland (drums) and Deborah Holland (vox). Very nice. I bought the first CD years ago, but just found the second last week.

The car playlist for today was the first disc of George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass". You won't find that for $6.88 at Walmart.

Know what you mean. That's why I've had to set my top price at $5.00 (for a single CD - $10.00 for doubles). I've gone by this rule for the last few years. You'd be surprised how many great CDs you can still find - I go to used stores, thrift stores, pawn shops, yard sales. I'm usually never lacking for new things to listen to. Things did get a bit tight this summer as both the missus and I work for local school systems and didn't have much steady coming in. But I still managed to find a few interesting items. Of course, if I should happen to come in posession of a gift certificate or something like that, the rule goes out the window. Fair's fair.

This morning I'm listening to Dr. David Jeremiah on Turning Point and even though what he is doing now is teaching the bible, it definitely is MUSIC to my ears. He's a great teacher and has helped me in my walk with the Lord.

Wow, this thread hasn't been active.
i went deep into the vaults last night and pulled out Lillian Axe's "Psychoscitophrenia". Released in 1993, the song "Crucified" got some airplay but the album kinda tanked, grunge being the in thing and all. Its a shame too as it took all the good points of "glam metal" (musicianship, great melodies, emotion) but didn't indulge in the bad points (asinine lyrics, filler songs). It was a great release in the last days of glam metal as commercialy viable music.

I listened to Virgos Merlot on Napster. The name intrigued me. Thanks for the tip whomever you were. What's with the reptile eyes contacts though?

I've been checking out Metallica's "Deth Magnetic". Check my review thread.
Also got two new Billy Joel's and checked out a few various tracks: "Piano Man" and 'Turnstiles".
Just now I was watching / listening to the videos from ZZ Top's "Eliminator" CD. I just got the 25th anniversary collectors edition. Nice package.

Tonight's playlist at my friend's house:
Metallica's Death Magnetic(first 4 songs, he liked but not overwhelmingly so, the production turned him off)
Firewind's The Premonition (about a third, skipping around)
Elvenking's The Scythe (about a third, skipping around)
The last two were my friends but he sold them to me for $15 (total, not each). A lovely parting gift. Both are considered power metal. Elvenking was kinda like Rhapsody (of Fire) but on this one its more straight up metal.
He also played some of a CD by Easy Rider (or is it spelled EZ Rider?) but I don't remember the name of it.

quite a haul from Best Buy tonight. It'll take me a bit to hear them all. I started with The Gaslight Anthem - The 59 Sound. They're described as punk meets Tom Petty, Bob Dylan or Bruce Springsteen. What came to my mind was modern rockers who loved them some 50s / 60s rock. The storyteller songwriter ethic is present as well.
Tomorrow I'll work on one (or more) of these others I bought:
Blackmore's Night - Secret Voyage
Iced Earth - The Crucible of Man (sequel to last years "Framing Armagheddon")
Flobots - Fight With Tools
The Iced Earth will probably be played at my friends house so we can hear it together for the first time. He need not know about the Flobots as they are at least part rap and my friend is zero percent rap, if not less.
Also picked up a two pack at FYE, the latest reissues of Journey's "Escape" and "Frontiers". "Frontiers" is especially a treat as the bonus tracks include "Only the Young" and "Ask the Lonely". "Escape" has some live tracks from a 1981 concert in Houston (also captured on DVD, which is a separate product). Only $11.99 for the pair (they were boxed together but they were in their own jewel cases with complete packaging).
And the best part, some Chick Fil-a nuggets. Great food, great commercials, great mascot, great business practices (not open on Sundays for starters).
Oh yeah, this morning in the car I was listening to a new Walmart purchase: Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks. Dylan will most likely never be a favorite of mine but I see why others love him. Glad I got this for under $9.
