Going to John's church was very interesting. I think I was greated by 10 or more people!

Lioness, what about a half hug instead?

Cyberhugs online, friendly handshakes IRL.

This is just for fun ... although scripture does say ...

(Rom 16:16) Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you.

(1Co 16:20) All the brethren greet you. Greet ye one another with an holy kiss.

(2Co 13:12) Greet one another with an holy kiss.

So ...

have you ever? ... or is it too scary?

Why didn't I think to do a biblical study on kissing.

I think nationality plays a big role. We are Italian and we not only greet everyone with a kiss (mostly on the cheek) we send them away that way too. Family reunions a really just a kissathon. You greet everyone with a kiss, you eat (of course) and then send everyone away with a kiss. It can get interesting, but never scary.

When I got saved, I found that people in that particular church did the holy kiss thing. That was a culture shock for me. My children's grandparent's church do that too. We do the side hug thing with men, or the safe handshake. Some do the sloppy agape.

In my church we don't kiss, we rarely hug, we seldom shake hands. We do introduce ourselves to visitors, but without any bodily contact.

The church I go is filled with folks who like to hug and being a reserved person, I really find it hard to accept hugs from others esp when they go around hugging every one in the pew.

It's fun to read people's answers on this. If you walked into 'my' church after the service ..lol. Talk about culture shock. Women kiss each other, on the cheeck, and about half the men kiss each other also. visitors get kissed too, but it's usually the older ladies who (like to) kiss the female guest. Unless you enjoy this tradition, it can get sickening.

I'm not a touchy-feely kind of person.
Yes, feely is a word. I made it up, therefore, it's a word.

I had a strange guy approach me. He was like in his mid 30s and he was about to hug me. I've never met this man in my LIFE. I mean, if I knew him, then yes, he could hug me. But I didn't. So I backed away and offered him my hand to shake. hahaha.

I felt bad afterwards, but yeah.

this morning at church, I got 5 hugs and 1 holy kiss.
LOL it was my best friend's wife!!!!
I think it would have been inappropriate for him to give me a holy kiss, that stuff just isn't happening in this part of the world.

Sorry ... but this is too funny. It reminds me of the sloppiest kisser I ever dated!

Let's just say there was not much holy about that kiss ...

Exactly, hugs and kisses are to be reserved for people that you know.

Some people are just the huggy type of people though. *shrug*

Me personally...I had better know a LOT about you before you start hugging me. Let alone planting a wet and sloppy agape on me. *shudders*

Although...I wonder how that would work at my new singles life group? *ponders* I could greet the guys innocently with a holy kiss. *snigger*

Unfortunately I don't have the personality to pull it off...but I bet my best friend can. I'll have to mention it to her. *giggle*

The key word is "holy". If someone would plant a kiss and claim it holy, but their motivation was for evil, then we got some "laying" of hands to do.

I'm definitely not a huggy kind of person either. People should ask if it's OK to hug before just doing it.

This is very true. I do have friends that do that...I also have friends that know I'm not a huggy person so don't take every opportunity to hug me.

Kyoudai has actually taken to waiting for me to give him a hug. He's never hugged me which is good because he's one of those huggy people...LOL
