Thanks for the Bloodgoodband referal. I found some of their stuff on youtube. They kind of remind me Judas Priest a little bit.

Montrose was also in Gamma. Their song Voyager is so awesome, but the vid on Youtube has some raunchy images so I can't post it.

I’ve been waiting for this day to be revealed, since I been saved the idea has come up over and over again to do the classics’ …but change the words around into the words of God…and after hearing these guys I am ready to put that ad in the paper and expand out into the world where it counts,
I mean the boyz in the congregation …God Bless um…even when they show up for practice….they lack that big sound…so to speak!

Hey, since you posted up the Hollies... I keep singing..””” Sometimes””” ...All I need is the air that breathe...and to love you ....LOL

....my wife likes it.....but I can’t get it out of my head!!

I remember that one now!
A bit TechNo....
But I liked the way the rhythm guitar stood out, too many RGPs today like to hide in the background when their part comes up! ...so to speak! You have to go find them!

SO with that I was working with the youth band for a while in our congregation and this one young man was a little shy …but had some good guitar sense, (and boy could he preach a word)

I noticed it seems the youth are so trained with all this digital studio garbage that they can not grasp the discipline of the live affect…. where the instrument is actually to be played!

...even though I had to strum out cords on the bass for him to follow he caught on very quickly; he graduated this summer and I believe he is going away to Bible College...and that is more important,

But

Here’s some good rhythm guitar on the Christian front; God has blessed her with a great band, these guys can do any type of music
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVW90USS-WU

On this track by Kutless… the bass opens (in all the lyrics) he plays an improvised rhythm that follows the old "All Along the watchtower" riff… by Jimmy Hendricks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vh-JeZPmydE

Get it! …Strong tower!… All Along the watchtower!

To kill 2 birds with one stone,
Neil young to my surprise was pretty good live, here a clip of “All Along the watchtower”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_tJnj2j5kI&feature=related

What instruments to you dabble with Dad?

I play a little guitar and can just manage to sit in on bass at church when they're really desperate. Mostly I'm a stage parent/roadie now. And you?

Greetings,

Ah HA!! The last resort UH!

Hey that’s ok! Personally I wouldn't trade off those who are Spirit led with the lack of experience who willing to learn… in the place of musicians who know it all and are unwilling to raise those from among the congregation!!

quote:

And you?

Bass always.

.....yet the way I bang on things around the house...the Wife keeps telling me I should pick up the drums. .....always wanted to be a drummer since I was little ....but my Mom and I lived in an apartment complex and I learned at an early age ....that is was better to keep the peace with the person who lived above us
…so she brought me a Hammond Organ instead,
….but I cashed it in later for the bass and being lefty I never bothered to pick up a lefty acoustic or anything like that...I just learned to play some cords the opposite way, but not as good....LOL!!

Hey when I searched out the Lilith Fair after you mentioned it.... the Good Lord seemed to link me up with this site here (below)...From what I have seen so far
...It's pretty interesting...
Perhaps it could be a good guide when keeping an eye on what the kiddies are listening to!

It's Christian site and it seems that they rate secular music and.... artists..... in whom may just be one from a lost tribe of the Church!

Check it out...

Cool site. Actually, my kids listen mostly to classic rock and jazz. They don't listen to much Christian music except for what they play at church or at Christmas.

Here's my youngest son's guitar teacher from back in the day when he played with UFO.

UFO…Rock Bottom!
They had a few guitarist....Who....the main guy..Michael Schenker >Scorpions?

I remember when the Scorpions hit MTV back when I was a kid; but the band I was in started much later, we did over 141 classic songs but we didn't have the will... or the sound... the closest we ever arrived at that new sound or in that direction was in my second band, and picked a few from Nazareth (Hair of the Dog) (Love hurts) and of course...(Razamanaz) !
When we actually pulled off some good renditions of Teds Nugent’s (Stranglehold) and Queens (Stone Cold Crazy)

Where are you from Dad...UK, Germany?

Hey…..before I came to know Christ I never knew Christian music even existed let alone away from church or at Christmas (electric Hymnals as I call them now)

Check out this site...one can pick up some good music here.. Rather inexpensive

No, not Michel Schenker. Wouldn't that be awesome! Tommy McClendon. Yeah, we're well aware of Christian music. My wife is a big fan. Me and the boys just don't find much to our taste in modern Christian stuff. Some of the lyrics are great, but instrumentally most of it's lame, especially from a lead guitarist viewpoint. I live in Nor Cal.

….Now here is some classic for ya!
http://www.classic-rock-legends-start-here.com/bruce_springsteen.html

Hey Dad when you get a chance..

Ask Tommy if he remembers playing at a nightclub in Asbury Park NJ called “Hotel California” which was later named Park Place?

I really didn’t know who UFO were at the time, and I remember vaguely;
but... Our band (named JADE) and was one of the 3 opening bands that weekend on a ticket that included Nazareth… … but don’t quote me… its been a while…I believe UFO was also on that same weekend ticket..

Greetings,

Hey Dad I just noticed the link at the bottom for "Heartland Rocks! Is that your band?

Who is that little one in the middle whaling that guitar??
....Other than the lack of a good light show and a half step here and there... is was rather "Excellent!

You mentioned in the last post "from a lead guitarist viewpoint...
I was digging around the archives.... let us not forgot Joe Satriani…..and his famous hat covering up that bald head

Here’s one the kids may enjoy..
Joe Satriani & Andy Timmons guitar duel
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_ehgqgxxIE&feature=related

I’ve been trying to find a dual guitar ditty on You Tube that was preformed by Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner form the LOU REED band after they split up; members of that band teamed up with Alice Cooper on the "Welcome to Nightmare" tour... I found one but so far its been scratchy...
you would have liked that one,
it sort of followed the same theme as it does in the video above with Joe Satriani & Andy Timmons; where towards the end they were going back and forth,
In the Alice rendition Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner were actually battling one another...I never heard one like it to date...if I find a clean rendition away from Alice’s antics … I'll post it up

That's so funny. My oldest son took a few lessons from Satriani's drummer, Jeff Campitelli.

Doesn't it stink when they don't have the vid you want on Youtube? I've been scouring that site for the original recording of Shooting Star's Breakout but all I can find is a lousy live version.
