Good Monday Morning Everyone

Another busy week-end at my house. Why do them week-ends have to be so busy and go so fast?
Friday night I helped Katie clean her upper flat. Got to meet her roomate Samantha, and Samanthas fiance Brad. Seems like some nice young adults. Was'ent to thrilled with the area they will be liveing at...but I know I am a protective mom anyways.
Then Sat. I neede to cut the front grass at my house. Then I ended up watching Ethan for a couple hours. Just me and him..enjoying the late afternoon. Sort of nice.
Sunday was Katie's moveing out day. We loaded two trucks, and my van, full of her and James stuff, and helped them unload at their new place.
James parents also drove down there with a loveseat for them..and to check out the place. They still are not happy they are liveing together..and she even made a comment about the Boys bedroom and the Girls bedroom. But she also know there is'ent much she can do about it anyways. If they chose to live together, it's between them and God.
We drove the van back home and James and Katie left, after they loaded up her cat. And yes...I cryed when she left
It's just so difficult when they grow up and move out!!
Just another phase of my life. And I will get over it. I still have Cody here to enjoy
So that's how my week-end went anyways. Did'ent get the dresses finished. But I just have to hem them up now. So they are almost done.
Also have to clean up Katies bedroom and fill it up with something. Don't like a bare bedroom sitting there.

Good morning, Barb. Hope you get those dresses finished today.

Our weekend was a little quieter than yours. Think I wrote about it in the other thread, or in my thread. Anyway, had company for cards Saturday night. Yesterday I went to church both morning and evening. Bill fixed us steak on the grill in the afternoon, at which time I tried to discuss his retirement with him. Looks like after nearly 40 years of marriage I'd know we can't discuss anything more serious than the weather without us fighting . . . it put such a damper on what could have been a good day. And the thing is, he'll eventually realize that what I was trying to tell him was probably right, and come back to ask for more information . . but then it will look more like his idea I guess. Who knows why he finds it so hard to take -- it's not advice cuz there was nothing to advise about yet . . it hadn't gotten that far. It was simply information. Things like that make me so weary.

Anyway, I'm off to go to Walmart again -- forgot his meds the other day, and something else which I can't remember right now. Hope I remember it before I get there. Then I'm planning to go to the gym. We'll see.

Leah,
Sometimes I have learned to just let my hubby figure things out by himself. I might suggest things to him...but HE has to be the one to think about it. Funny thing is, he usually does it my way afterall.

I forgot to mention...Sharon was kind enough to place my last batch of grandkids on my avatar. These two little ones are my son, Tommys children. Ethan is our oldest grandchild and Brett is our youngest.
So...here's introducing Brett to you all

Trying to get all my overflow furniture into Katie's old bedroom. So far I got the gun cabnet moved out of my bedroom...to put in there. But it proved to be too heavy for me. So I will wait until Cody can help me out. Then I will move the sewing machine and tread mill out of my liveingroom and into the bedroom. Thinking I will get rid of the twin bed in there also. Mabey look around for a futon sofa/bed for in there. Also have a wooden cradle in my liveingroom that might go back there. Baby Brett can sleep better in that bedroom.

Yes, Barb, it is certainly easier when they can figure it out for themselves. But Bill's a procrastinator of the worst kind about things like this, and I have been patiently waiting for him to make some moves toward retirement for a year now; however we'd both decided we really couldn't afford it with the economy like it is, even with him working part time, which he intended all along. But neither of us had stopped & done the math. Which is what I did this weekend, adn what I was trying to tell him . . not advising to take action, just simply tell him that we would be at least as well off, financially, and maybe even better. He blew up before I got that far. So, I guess I'll just keep my mouth shut and listen to him complain about being tired and sore, etc. Some ppl just get a bang out of playing the martyr,

Well, I made it to the gym finally. But first I met my sil for coffee at McD's. That was nice. It was even nicer to get home and get all the sweat washed off me then relax in the cool air of the a/c. Gosh it's hot out there!! And it's got to be 10-15 degrees hotter in town than here. I forgot to bring my stuff in from the van, so guess I better go out and get that.

It's still the weekend here. We have a long weekend (just because the government likes us--and wants our tourism dollars). I can't remember what I did for the weekend. Oh. I slept late each day. Yesterday I had a nice afternoon at The Forks, watching some really cool native dancing costumes as a group of natives danced for several hours not far from my coffee shop window. Saturday I did several loads of laundry plus dusted and vacuumed in the basement--those parts I could reach. Today I proofed ds1's 3rd-year economics paper comparing the Soviet Union to current-day Russia and now I've been continuing scrubbing the kitchen. Did some stuff around the stove and next is the diswasher area. I'll have to come back to the stove because I need to buy a stronger degreaser.

Good Tues. Morning everyone

Thanks Maggie
Sounds like you are getting alot accomplished around the house.
I got Katie's old bedroom all filled up yesterday. I call it "Barbs Room" now. Moved my sewing machine in there. Got the tread mill in there, a small TV with a radio and clock, and my TV trays. Then I even had room to put hubbys gun cabnet in there. At least it does'ent look so bare in there now. I gave the twin bed to Isabelle.
Today I have to hem them dresses and my sewing is all done. My next project is PJ for them grandsons, and another quilt for Brett. Have some left over fabric, all cut out...just need to order one print from Walmart. They no longer carry it, and I will need it to finish the quilt.
Then I will have to figure out what projects I can start for over the looong winter months.
I have also taken on the chore of potty training three little ones.
Tommy will be three in Sept.
Kylee will be three in Dec.
Isabelle will be two this month
So far Isabelle is catching on pretty well
I am rewarding with stickers. They love stickers

Good morning, Barb. Glad you got your room all moved around . . . sounds like a nice place for you to 'hide out' from all the commotion

I'm going to vote this morning, then to the senior center this morning, meet some of the church ladies there, then after lunch we'll all play some table games. Looking forward to it. I think I'll leave a little early so I can go to the library and pick up a book. I've read two of a series of 3 that Maggie recommended, but the 3rd one hasn't come in yet -- unless it comes in today -- that would be nice! If not, I'll find something else to read until it does.

If I'm not too tired when I get home I might start working on emptying a 4 drawer filing cabinet of junk so I can fix up my 'sitting room' a little better. Need to move a wardrobe out of there, and have to get rid of the filing cabinet to make room for the wardrobe in my sewing room. Once the wardrobe is out, I'm seriously considering moving my chaise lounge in there. I put a big window in there this spring which looks onto the back yard. Not quite as pretty a view as the front yard, especially this time of year, but I'm thinking I could hang a bird feeder right outside the window, and it would be nearly as good . . . also, when I want to read in the evenings instead of playing on the puter or watching TV with Bill I could do so in there without the distraction of the TV I get out here. Bill seemed in favor of the idea cuz it would make our living room not so crowded and get his chair back away from the TV a little more. As much as I love sitting on my chaise lounge, we really didn't have room for it in here. I think this will work well, tho.

Rearranging furniture is fun
Just got done hanging pictures of Katie, and all her plaques from school on them walls. Sort of brings some of Katie back into that room.

Hi and Bye Maggie

I've been so busy "trainning myself" with these three kids. They are suppose to be the ones I am trainning to use the potty. But I have to remember, evey hour on the hour, to set them on the toilet
We are useing stickers for a reward. So far Kylee and Tommy have one sticker each today, and Isabelle does'ent have any. She was really upset that she did'ent get one. But I told her she has to USE the toilet before she gets the sticker. Not just sit on it
We started on Monday..I really don't notice an improvement yet

Well better hem them dresses I never got to yesterday

Hi Leah, Maggie, and Barb!

A lot of stuff going on lately. It was fair week so hubby and son were with the boy scouts renting the padded seats at the stadium for the rodeo and demo derby.

I just got back from registering my son for school, will do my daughter this afternoon and my high schooler tomorrow probably.

My daughter just walked to the store with a friend. I wonder if she got caught in the shower that came through a bit ago. I think her friend has a cell phone so they could have called.

I voted yesterday. I should try to see who won. The state board of education race is always interesting. Kansas goes back and forth on requiring evolution/intelligent design to be taught in schools. Many are very passionate on both sides.

Dee, I think the creation story should get equal dibs at being told if they allow the others they should allow all views.

My experience is teens call when THEY need something otherwise the cells phones aren't used to call mom and dad.

My church is having a show and tell on what members can do such as a hobby to share, a skill, a talent. I couldn't think of anything for me so I did a power point on the Parable of the Sower and found pictures and did research to put it together. My pastor said it was good and is projecting it on the church screen for people to see while they are milling around looking at the booths and displays.

I sent a copy to Maggie and Linda too. They said it was alright. Anyone else want to view it?

My lawyer's paralegal called today before I got home from work. Dave said she said she needed to talk to me. Guess something is up.

Hi everyone. Looks like I didn't make it in here today. Nothing much going on -- been rather lazy today, really.

Ginny, I hope you get good news from the paralegal tomorrow.

Good Thurs. Morning Everyone

Dee, I agree with Ginny..would'ent it be neat if the public schools gave
EQUAL time to teach the creation story, and then the evolution?
When my high schoolers were taught about the evolutionn, they sure were confused. All their life they were taught about the creation.
Then they were told of the evolution by their favorite teacher.

Ginny, hope you hear good news from the paralegal today.

Leah, heard you are haveing some pretty HOT days down there. Our high dew points drifted your way. We are at a comfy 67 degrees with a 58 dew point. I sure do enjoy this kind of weather. Hope it breaks soon for you. I know how much you enjoy it outside.

Good morning, Barb.

Yes, we've been having scorching hot weather, but it did break Wednesday, and it's a been slightly less hot since then. I think it got to 84 yesterday, though 69 sure sounds a lot better to me! . . . I do miss being able to be out much. I'm thinking about putting on some old clothes and going out to pull a few weeds today, but I really have some sewing that I must get done, so we'll see.

Garrett had to go in for an MRI today on his head . . please pray nothing will be wrong.

Leah,
Sent up a prayer for Garrett. Poor little guy has been through enough.
When do you start getting him back?
I was gonna go to Walmart this afternoon, and buy more fabric. But I forgot cable is comeing over this afternoon.
Gonna switch my phone over to them and get something called DVR service. We will see if I like it. Will save me $50 a month.
I got them dresses done

Guess I will work on Cody's drapes today. They are rather long for window tops. So I have been meaning to shorten them up since Dec.
Otherwise all my sewing is done until I buy more fabric. Sigh

And I said it was awesome and amazing. Hrmph! She's minimizing our comments, Linda! Whatever shall we do?

We have yet to have any hot weather this summer. Well, we had two days, not consecutively, where the temps reached 30C (somewhere in the 80'sF), but that's all.

So, Linda, are you sewing or pulling weeds? Or did the swing or chaise lounge grab your attention?

Barb, congratulations on finishing the dresses! Way to go!

I must say if I did'ent have my neighbor helping me I would have been LOST
I'd love to go outside and do some yard work. But with this little 5 month old, I am inside with her. I know I could take he out with me, but I don't want her to get a sunburn.
Guess I can do some weeding during nap-time

It was the chaise. But I DID need to do my Bible study, ya know, so then I just continued on reading . . . . that Ted Dekker book is REALLY good

Should be sewing. Should be weeding. Can't decided which to do.

Maybe I'll read some more while I'm deciding . . .
