The intestines of a sheep. I thought I would never taste them yet I did.

The brain of a sheep as well.

Once we raised up 5 chicks in our home and when they became a lil mature, my mom slaughtered them. When we sat on the table I was in tears and almost was able to tell which is which and lost my appetite and even when provoked by my mom to taste, I had a bite and wanted to throw up.

I really wish we could stop eating animals OR at least slaughter them in a more human less painful way!

Fennel.

I swore for years that I hated it, then decided last year that I had to try it before continuing to say that...

I'm growing it in my garden this year

I think I'm falling in love with the veggies I'm growing because I'm growing them. Nothing like going into the garden and getting a few carrots or courgettes and cooking them straight away, then eating 'em!

Zucchini - but I love it now. I can't believe all the years I wasted on not eating it!
Spinach - also very much enjoy it now, especially fresh, or cooked in a quiche or something.

Shrimp - I can eat it deep fried, but I can NOT eat it if the head and shell are still on it... I have a problem eating things that can see me.

Liver - still hate it
Cow tongue - also still hate it

I had a meat in Colombia that I hated before I knew what it was... I now say I'll never eat it again... cow udder.

I am surprised that nobody said Sushi yet, which is what I thought that I'd never eat.

Also, fish of various kinds, lobsters, shrimp, etc.

I like them on a hook strung from a cane pole, with a catfish closing in.

When I took a food and nutrition class in college, I decided I needed to teach myself to like liver because of it being iron rich. So I did. And I really got to like it! (My husband fixed liver and onions and it was great.)

Then I learned that you shouldn't eat liver because all the toxins in an animals body end up in the liver. I no longer eat it.

I tried to teach myself to drink milk as well. I never succeeded at that. In fact I got worse and would gag before the glass even made it to my lips.

Tripe. A lady served it up for dinner when I was staying at her house. I had to wade through it with a smile. Never touched it since!

Rutabagas.

I hated them -- until I tasted some my first mother-in-law grew and cooked. Delicious -- her way.

Was served some uncooked as a child. Thought I was going to croak!

And what's that stinky Swedish fish? I cooked and ate some for my first husband, who was part Swedish. One time. That's all we needed.

Canned spinach. I don't care WHAT Popeye says.

most canned vegetables are gross. except corn.

my friend and I went out to grab a bite at Red Robin last night and was totally grossed out when I ordered a Bacon Cheddar Guacamole burger! It was phenomenal!!

When I was a kid I "hated" guacamole because my father hated it. ( ) I thought, if he hated it, it must be gross. However, I never took into consideration that he also loved liver and onions ( )

At some point I put childish ways behind me. LOL. Everything I hated as a kid, I am willing to try as an adult. There are so many things I could be missing out on:

sausage, peppers, and onions
mushrooms
guacamole

I still dislike cottage cheese though...nothing but old milk turds.

Duck. Those cute little feathery friends are really quite good.

When I was 10 I spent the weekend with an old friend of the family ~ everyone called him Grandpa Theodore ~ he made what I thought was small pieces of fried chicken. After eating a big plate full because they were really delicious. I found out that he hadn't said "chicken" at all but "chitlin". When I asked what a chitlin was, everyone laughed at me. Feeling rather embarrassed and silly I didn't pursue it. Later I asked my mom in private what it was. She turned white as a sheet and explained to me what they were. SICK!!! And I ate them all up!

If you were like me and didn't grow up in the deep south ~ a chitlin or a chitterling as they are properly called are the intestines of a pig.
