Yes, since I have a fish sticker on my truck (salem communications logo for Atlanta radio station) I have to consider this: If I drive like a brat and someone notices the sticker, then I am setting up a poor witness. If I drive too fast it is again a poor example. If I wanna drive like a putz, I need to take the sticker off the window.
I have seen this on a bumper sticker: Slow me down Lord. I wonder how many speeding tickets they got? Was that their intent? Probably not.

That doesn't make them any less idols. They are symbols just as much as the other "stuff" christians have around. The fancy communion plates are pretty but they are just stuff. Prayer shawls are another symbol. Christian t-shirts and bumper stickers are symbols. They are meant to identify us with a people group.
I agree with this idea coming through this thread: that once our stuff has identified us as christians, how does our behavior match up? All the "stuff" doesn't speak nearly as loud as our actions.

Our community orchestra was the guest of a church for a rehearsal last Spring. With a way-too-big sanctuary (former church there had moved to much larger campus) they carved out two areas in back, one for a visitors welcome/info center and the other for a commercial coffee bar, complete with a cash register and credit card machine.
That was the only time I've seen anything like that in a church on a continuing basis. The only time I can recall where Jesus went ballistic was when merchants were in the temple, but they were swindling the worshipers.

Sorry- getting old and it has been what, at least 10 yrs? I DO remember that Mr Camp's music stopped getting airplay right about the time that was posted, now that I think of it.

No prophet is honored in his hometown, or in this case by his peers. One can look in the forums here and see stuff that ought to be criticized.
I've heard that the reason that God refers to us as His 'Sheep" is that we have a tendency to be short-sighted and stupid, we run with the herd without questioning to see where we're headed, and we're usually concerned only with what is right under our noses.
I think most of us are not wise about the faith because we're too tied up in the religion. Also we do NOT know either Scripture or history well enough to intelligently understand and debate the faith. I am often disappointed with church services because they tend to be more fluff than education- too much feel this or that stuff, too much show. I am often disappointed with local Christian radio because it all sounds the same(bubble-gum pop). I also get kind of fed-up with some study groups because they end up being chit-chat sessions rather than deeper analysis of Scripture, doctrine, and historical perspectives.
There's a phrase "corporate (harlot)" which describes most of Christian industries from the denominations to the publishers to the music industry to the doo-dad's makers to the "cashing in on Christ" businesses. The Devil's best disguise has always been religion.

We have gone way tooo far.
We are taking the Lord's Name in vain, making merchadisers of everyone.
WE should be able to tell a Christian by his/her fruits.
