BTW: ONE THING is on our set for Friday night of GOGR. hope they like it as much as the FanFest folks did.

With all due respect, Paul, I hope that the Prophets are planning on staging songs that this crowd associates with the Prophets of days gone by. I'm speaking as one that has never missed a reunion, and I know what goes over well with this audience.

While new songs are good, the GOGR faithful are all about memories of the past.

Looking forward to meeting you!

I think that our first song on Friday is a tune from the first Prophets LP, in 1959. Saturday almost our whole set is vintage PROPHETS stuff. Hope it blesses somebody....see ya there!

OK...Czar...How do you think we did in presenting and selecting some old Prophets' tunes?

Those that went to GOGR, did you hear 11-year old Logan Smith on Friday night? WOW, what a voice coming out that little feller! I was hoping to hear him again on Saturday night but it must have been past his bedtime!

Honestly???

I wish you had asked me to pick your song list.

I only associated one of your songs as a Prophet's "sugar stick" . . . "Sweeter as the Days Go By".

OK Czar...you better talk to EDDIE and Ed.

I know the old Prophets did I CAN CALL JESUS,
and I think they recorded,
HE SET ME FREE, LORD I'M COMING HOME & CHILD OF THE KING.
...yes, no doubt about it, SWEETER was one of their sugarsticks!
The folks did like that one.

I argued for WORKIN' ON A BUILDIN'...but EC didnt think we were
quite ready to do it on stage just yet..."been workin' on it"

But we also wanted to do a few from our new Cd. We got good feedback
from the fans about those tunes as well.

Roy Pauley suggested that we do WHO I and Eddie wants us to work up WHEN I MEET YOU OVER THERE.
I told Roy that I can't sing as lightly as Roy Mc and Jay B did. They were really tenors singing lead (according to Ed). Bill readily acknowledges that he does not sound like Lew either. But we are open to suggestions.

Hop over on The Prophets thread...or my blog, and give us some songs that you think we could do. I CAN CALL JESUS & LORD I'M COMING HOME were mine. You are probably as familiar with Prophets' history as anyone alive. Thanks for your interest and support. Was great meeting you.

PJ

Thanks Man! I really appreciate that! IT was a nice crowd and we had a few sound issues but I think we got it resolved. Crowd was very easy to sing to!

This has bothered me . . . I kept thinking "He Set Me Free"????

The Prophets DID record "He Set Me Free". However, the version I best remember was written by their lead singer, Jay Berry and not the Albert E. Brumley version. It is a dynamite song, too! Another of those Prophets sugar sticks from the early 60s.

OK . . . now I have my train of thought back on the tracks . . .

You are welcome Randy! Thanks for the encouragement. I agree...the DE's are amazing! they blew me away with HOW BIG IS GOD & LITTLE IS MUCH! Wow....you BB's were great too. So smooth, polished and classy.

Thought you handled the sound glitch like the pro you are. I thought Ben and Trevor did a pretty good job with the sound overall. That many groups and cues has got to be a nightmare.

Thanks again!

Whoa Czar...didnt mean to cause a train wreck. HE SET ME FREE is a song that EC suggested that we put in our repetoire. We are still building our on stage program...more coming. Thanks for posting the list of suggested tunes over on the PROPHETS' thread.
Already have fans and friends sending me copies of some of those.

Yes, they would be easy to sing to for a group as good at singing straight-ahead four-part songs as you guys are!

A group really trying to push the progressive edge might have a bit of a harder time with that crowd.
