I've not heard as many of the Kingsmen CDs from this decade as I had Gold City. Of the ones I've heard I voted for When God Ran with The Past is Past a very very close second.

I really like the Carolina Boys "Good News" Album. That one had some great songs on it that I believe flew under the radar big time. Jerry Martin was incredible on that album ( He is one of my favorite tenors) Too bad the Kingsmen couldn't have kept him around. Even though I have nothing against Harold Reed.

I voted for When God Ran. It is an awesome CD. I can't think of a song on it that I skip - they are all that good! I can't wait to see When God Ran (song) go to number one. It has a great message and nothing beats seeing Bryan sing it live!

I totally agree. I loved the lineup of Jerry, Randy Crawford Parker Jonathan and Ray, and those albums are excellent. Good News is on my top 10 albums list. It didnt get nearly the credit it deserved, but that lineup is probably my second favorite ever of the Kingsmen, closely behind Chris, Bryan, Parker and Ray!!!

I voted for When God Ran, though I have my suspicions Big & Live Again might bump it off if I ever hear it (more than a couple of minutes while driving in with Adam Edwards to NQC, anyhow!)

Big and Live Again is a great album too. Personally, I think it may be slightly better than Big and Live!!!

I sure wish they would cut a new DVD with all the songs from "When God Ran"!

I really like "When God Ran". I also really like "Good, Good God". However, I'm not sure the new lineup can quite compare with the Jerry Martin, Parker Jonathan, Bryan Hudson, Ray Reese era yet. Therefore I voted for my favorite CD from that era which is "I Will". One of my favorite Kingsmen songs ever is "Joy's Gonna Come". I have heard several groups sing this song, but the Kingsmen version is by far the best. That song alone is worth making this CD number one, but there are many other great songs on it as well. In fact, it has 14 songs! Honorable mention to "Big and Live Again", "Good News", as well as the 2 latest that I mentioned at the begining of the post.

I think that "I Will" is great. Listen to how high that Jerry Martin and Bryan Hutson are singing!
"Proven Time and Time Again" gave the Kingsmen a #1 song "Next Cloud" and a #2 song- "Getcha to The Other Side".
I was given "When God Ran" as a gift and I must say it's awesome. I hope the fellas can regain some fans that they seem to have lost over the years.

I really think that "My Past is Passed" and "Good Good God" have hurt thier popularity. I just dont think those were great albums, especially by Kingsmen standards. "When God Ran" is a definite step in the right direction. They really need their next effort to be INCREDIBLE. I would like to see a real High Energy Kingsmen Live album, with some powerful songs on it.

I voted for " I Will " it is probably in my top 3 Kingsmen albums of all time. Good News would be my second of this decade.

I cheated, I voted for both "When God Ran" and "Big & Live .. Again!"

Big & Live Again is so much fun to listen to...

When God Ran really speaks to the soul!

I can't choice between the two!

I have just been re-listening to "Ready" and man that album is terrific. It has to be one of the most underrated Kingsmen/Carolina Boys albums ever.

For me, the lineup hurts "When God Ran". I just dont think that Phillip Hughes is a very good lead singer, and Ray's vocals have really dropped off on the last few albums.

Bill......How are you going to go on a Kingsmen forum and trash talk two of the members of the group? and by the way, I know plenty of people that like the albums "My Past is Passed" and "Good Good God".

I'm not trashing. I'm being honest about an album. I like the album, I think the songs are terrific, but like I said, I do think the lineup hurts it .
It is my opinion that Phillip Hughes is way down on the list of lead singers that have came through the ranks of the Kingsmen. I'm sorry that I offend, but I don't think Phillip fits with the group. Alot of people disagree.

I love Ray Reese. I have probably 20 Kingsmen albums, and listen to them all regularly, but I do think his voice is not nearly as strong as it was a few years back. I mean being 70 does that to you. I understand that. I salute him for his years of service, and great bass singing.
I'm not going to lie and say I think he sounds terrific, when I dont think he does. That would be dishonest.
I really feel that a positive step for him and the group, would be for him to focus on managing the group, and using those talents to keep spreading the gospel, and bring in someone younger with a vibrant voice, like Gold City and BFA have done with thier young bass singers.

I disagree what you say about Ray's voice. I think the older he get, the deeper and stronger his voice has gotten. Especially, live in concert.

And i think Phillip has one of those "Unique" voices, it took me a while to get used to , but i love his voice. It is a different sounding voice than your average lead singer.

You are right about Phillip, his voice is DEFINATELY different that most lead singers, but I dont think that's good in a quartet. Soloist, yeah sure. I'd probably like something he did as a soloist.

I admit on Chat. Live, and Big and Live, Ray's voice wasnt very full and deep like it was by mid 90's stuff like Georgia Live and You're Not Alone, or even Shelter. It stayed like this till about Born Again. Still good then, but not quite as full (to me). Then with Past is passed, Good Good God and When God Ran, it seems they feature him less and less, and that his voice just isnt as good as mid to late 90's when I feel it was the best it's ever been.

I agree David, it took me a while to get used to Phillp's style but I love to hear him sing "Hide Thou Me", "Past Is Past", and "Finished Indeed".

Ray is doing a fantastic job, Ray has been singing bass for over 40 years and Im pretty sure He knows what He's doing. Maybe later on Ray will usher in a younger bass, but for now, I still like Ray. No doubt about it. I hope I dont offend anybody but I feel like(MY OPINION), Ray is a better bass singer than Jeremy Lile and the Kingsmen doesnt need a young bass singer like Jeremy Lile but maybe somebody like Aaron McCune.

We still love you Ray...keep hitting those lowww notes

I agree with DJS about Ray's voice. He's got a fuller, richer sound now compared to, say, the old Kingsmen favorite where his bright line jumps out..."AT THE STERN."

It is difficult to find a combination of voices that blend well with Phillip Hughes. Hughes has a bit of a pinched lead sound, but on When God Ran they found songs that match his strengths. Reed blends with him much better than Jeremy Peace did. That's not to take away from Peace as a singer. Reed has had more experience matching his sound to what a variety of lead singers have served up for him over the years.

Also, Bryan Hutson's tones fill the gap between Hughes and Reese very well.

This is the first CD the Kingsmen have released since the departure of Parker Jonathan that actually sounds like a group of compatible voices vs. four individual voices singing parts but not playing off of each other all that much. When you get that happening, you have a product that is greater than the sum of its parts.

The albums that I have been a part of are "When God Ran", "Honoring The Heritage 2 Live", "I'll Not Turn Back Live", "I Will, "Proven Time and Time Again", "Big and Live Again", "Shelter", "Old Time Way", "You're Not Alone" and "Beyond the Clouds".

They all have a special and unique meaning to me.

When I joined in 1996, the tracks were already cut for "Beyond the Clouds". I feel some of the songs were keyed too low for me, but I was able to record "Come and See The Rising Son" penned by one of gospel music's best singers; Jack Toney. (I still wish I had the demo of Jack singing it!)

"Big and Live Again" was recorded at The Gold City Homecoming and was 97 degrees INSIDE the building. I had to throw the shirt away that I had on, cause the tie I had on, bled onto the shirt ..staining it.

"Proven Time and Time Again" was the first Kingsmen record that WE (the singers) had input on. It was a hard record cause Nick Bruno produced it. He can hear harmony and arrangements that no mortal man can hear! haha. It was a great recording and I am very proud of it.

"I Will" had some great songs, and Jerry Martin and I really sang in the rafters!

With each album that followed, the songs were keyed better and I felt more like I could sing "In my wheelhouse."

"When God Ran" is my first official studio recording since coming back. Great songs and the title cut is my life. So, it means alot to me.

I am honored to be part of the legacy of The Kingsmen.
