ignoring people like that my make you feel better but that's just glossing over the fact that people are bruised and hurting. Shouldn't we as christians be helping to encourage them and to build them up? -to show them just who they really are in Christ! Or are we just talking about people who are habitually bitter and seem to be content in that attitude and like to tell everyone and anyone their woes without seeking to change themselves?

That would be it. There is situational bitterness, much like situational depression. Some people like being miserable. They enjoy causing others harm in their biting remarks. Hurt people, hurt people.
