Hi Kimberley, how are you today? The glasses for my son, yes, he had an eye exam. I asked if it would hurt his eyes to not get glasses and they said not. I'm sure that depends on what they are needing. I'm still thinking about that. Dee

{{{{Maggie}}}}} Chirp, chirp, chirp.....how annoying when you have a headache. Hope it eases for you soon. Other than that how is it going? quote:
I told her if they were still not done to boil them some more. See...they STILL NEED US. And they always will. Know I still call my mom for help. She's 79 and I'm 54. Well guess I need to get my shower and get ready for work. Wish me a good day. I was told yesterday my director is watching me for mistakes and anything she can get on me. And it doesn't bother me. Not anymore. God is my rock...on Him I stand. Ginny

Good morning, everyone! And good for you, Ginny!!! You Go Girl! . . . besides, you've known since the beginning they have been watching you, and for quite some time that they were probably 'actively' looking for something they could get rid of you for, so just keep doing the good job you're doing --- frustrating the devil good & proper!! . . . Read the thread yesterday, but kept getting distracted when I tried to post. Garrett doesn't allow much computer time anymore -- comes right over to me and turns my chair around to face him! -- ornery little tyke that he is . . . I don't have him today -- he went to see Grandma, and was so excited about going. He's adjusting to school just fine, and seems to really love it. Sure gets excited about getting on the bus. Yesterday it was raining, and even tho he LOVEs to walk in the rain -- with his head up to the sky and his mouth wide open (to catch the raindrops you know) and squealing with delight -- I knew he didn't need to spend the afternoon in damp clothes, so I decided I'd use an umbrella to get him to the bus. Well, after I let him see the umbrella for a bit (he's fascinated by them), I decided I'd have to put his backpack on him to make the trek to the bus (using one hand to hold on to him and the other to carry the umbrella wasn't going to leave a free hand to carry the backpack). Now if that wasn't a sight! That little bitty squirt with that big (tho practically empty) backpack on . . . I tried to get a picture, but my camera battery was dead . . guess I'll have to get one next week. From yesterday's thread: Dee, as Barb & others said, once they get a certain age you have no control, so I say exercise what control you do have while you have it and ignore rude, disrepectful boyfriends -- no sense in trying to play his game; just give your daughter enough room to see for herself. Yes, they always still need us. It was a long, long time after Mom's mind got so bad she could no longer answer my questions that I was able to stop myself from going to the phone to call her. Truthfully, there are still times I have that urge. Thankfully, my kids aren't afraid to admit they need me now -- tho they sure were as teenagers & beyond! I've been to the gym already this morning -- been up since 3:00 a.m., so will likely lie back down for a while after Bill leaves. It's 72 degrees out and overcast, and on the way home from the gym I rolled both windows down on the van and just let the wind blow thru my hair & dry the sweat on my face -- WOW! It felt so good -- nostalgic, for some reason . . . . it just brought back such memories of home and the field we used to play in, walks up to my Aunt Nellie's house, waking on the river with everything so quiet and feeling the cool morning air on my face . . . . . . ok, this is bringing on some real longing for things that just can't be anymore, so . . . . but I had the greatest urge just to keep driving -- maybe just down the highway a piece and back . . kinda wish I had . . . . sometimes I think about what it will be like in heaven -- will we remember those times? . . get to once again experience the joy they brought? . . will they even be important?? . . . . probably not, but if they are, I think maybe God will let us experience those memorable times somehow . . . . . . . Owell. I guess an occasional fantasizing doesn't hurt a person, huh. Maggie, I'm glad the po-dunk motel at least had internet . . . . . . . . . . and crickets (did you finally find him and do him in?? . . )

Oh 2 for the price of one. Way to go Leah. Did you hold down a button too long??? This has been a great Friday. Two of faculty were in and didn't have appointments nor had to teach so we took time to socialize with one another. As one said, "We are a Team!" She said that after I made a remark that they are my bosses too. And hubby came by and gave me $25 to go out to lunch, then took off with DD in the van with him for them to go out to eat. Now where do I go? I am home early because I had two late days this week and money to spend and have no one to go with me to spend it. Leah?? Wish you were just a bit closer to where I live. Ginny

Wow . . I dunno what I did there . . . I deleted one now, so's not to be too repetitive I wish we lived closer too! I'm eating a late lunch by meself -- picked up some chicken tenders and crab salad at the deli while I was in the grocery store. I went to get my hair trimmed, then on a whim ( ) I got it CUT . . shorter than I've had it in years! But I love it. 'course I haven't fixed it by myself yet, so we'll see It's so HOT downtown! Sheesh! I'm always soooooooooooooo happy to get back to my house

Yeah, I had a better sleep last night than the night before, Dee. That darn cricket though! I did not leave a very positive evaluation for that motel when we left. We're now in a different town and a different hotel. The accomodations are like night and day. This one costs less and is WAY nicer. The room is double the size with two beds instead of one (not that we need two), beautiful furniture, carpet, art on the walls, granite thresholds and sink/counters, wet bar with coffee machine and coffee, fresh and inviting with a lot more amenities. The one negative thing about this place is that the internet connection is not wireless so when I go down for breakfast, I won't be able to chat with Linda as I eat, or read in forums. They do have an office/business centre that I think I'll check out and I'm sitting at a very large desk in a proper office chair. Dh has chosen to sit in the upholstered arm chair, using the second bed as his desk. He doesn't have to. There's room for both of us at this desk (though not a second chair that would work at it). The pool area is in the building instead of across the road and we don't have to go in the opposite direction first, to get keys and towels. The pool is saltwater, there are three hot tubs/whirlpools, a sauna and an exercise room. I'm guessing the breakfast will be much more generous than at the other place that offered sliced bread, dry cereal, milk and juice. Oh! And a local church left a gift basket for us in our room (we're following some children's evangelistic crusades so dh can write about them for some magazine). I'm tired. Dh disdains eating three times a day and resents paying for me to do so. But oh well, he wanted me to come with him and he IS being paid expenses far above what we will spend even if we both ate three-meals a day in fine restaurants. So I'm not letting his disdain and resentment get to me. I just keep reminding him, when I hand him the receipts, that he can claim it on his income taxes. And I'm not being high maintenance. Supper was at A&W last night and lunch was from a grocery store today. Talking about A&W, I had quite an adventure getting there (by myself because dh wouldn't come). We don't have anything like your interstate highways in this part of Canada. The best we get are divided highways, two lanes going one way and two going the other, with something in between. All sorts of roads and driveways intersect the highways--some controlled but most not. So, our motel was on the service road that runs north of and parallel to the highway. The A&W was on the south service road. Could I make it across safely? First I crossed the north service road. Before me was a steep, weed-and-grass-covered slope which others had climbed before me, as evidenced by paths worn in diagonal lines from bottom to top. At the top was a large semi parked on the shoulder of the highway so the driver could duck into one of the coffee shops by our motel. I carefully peered around it to see what traffic was coming. None. Good! So I walked across, expecting to get hit at any minute. On the other side of the west-bound lanes was a deep, wide ditch I had to cross before arriving at the east-bound lanes of the highway. There aren't any obvious paths here, so I just sort of pick my way across till I reach the highway. No traffic is coming so again I cross, waiting to be hit, and have now a steep embankment to climb down before I reach the south service road, cross it, and then reach the A&W parking lot. Whew! I made it! I ordered a whistle dog and a root beer float (I was hankering for ice cream and this was the best I could do out of the available options), read a national newspaper and then began to head back. It was dark by now, however, and as I stood up from the table, my knee kept giving out on me. How would I cross the ditches, embankments and highways if I couldn't trust my knee to hold me up? I pictured myself falling in the middle of the highway, raising my arm as high as I could to flag down whatever vehicle came barrelling towards me. Thankfully there were no mishaps and I made it across safely, despite the darkness. It was an adventure. And I had Jiminy Cricket to greet me enthusiastically when I got back to our room.

Hi everyone! I just stopped by to say hello. Oh, Leah, I am so happy to see you still posting here! I was hoping to find your stories to read again. You really inspired me as a mom back in '05 when I first married soccerguy. Thanks so much for your inspiring stories. Nice to meet the rest of you! -Deb, momofsixteen

Read the bible. Read the web site articles. Went to a garage sale. Got chicken for lunch. Watched TV. Got my hair cut. And then took a nap. Hi Lean, Did you get your nap?

Let's see. In the last 24 hours I've read my Bible, did some proofing of my book, read some of another book, wrote a blog post, ate breakfast, chatted with Mike and Linda, went out for dinner (I'm not listing things in order) to a nice restaurant with a native Indian theme, swam ten lengths of the hotel pool, soaked in the whirlpool, sat in the sauna and steam bath, tried out the exercise room, had a nap. Oh! And showered because the salt water of the pools does nasty things to my hair. Now dh has gone to work and I'm off to find some place good to eat (he says he doesn't need to eat, silly man).

Hi Ginny & Maggie . . . . yes, Ginny, I did get a nap this morning. Also dozed a bit on the chaise later this afternoon. I had to go this morning to pick up some food I'd ordered from Angel Ministries -- anyone familiar with this organization? I'd heard about it several months ago, but had the idea it was for the underprivileged. Last week I found out it actually is for anyone. It's a good buy on food, and I've got steaks marinading for our meal tomorrow. After I returned from picking up the food, I went out to help Bill take down a couple of limbs in the circle drive that are preventing the busdriver from pulling thru there. Well, trimming a 'couple of limbs' stretched into pruning several trees until we had our circle drive littered with enough tree limbs for a HUGE bonfire . . and it was SOOOOOO HOT! But, God is good, and just when I thought I was going to have to give up and come in, Bill's sister & husband showed up and she happily helped me load and haul away the limbs while Bill went on trimming . Jim is not able to bend and lift stuff yet, and Bill has a very difficult time bending also, so Judi & I did most of the loading and unloading. That driveway sure does look good, tho! All the trimming created a tunnel effect thru there, making such a pretty, shady lane right thru our yard . . . the busdriver is going to be so pleased to be able to pull thru there now. She pulled thru the first couple of days, but one low hanging pine branch was severely catching on the hatch on the top of her bus and we decided she better pull into the main driveway a ways, then back into this one and turn around, but it took her 3 times of backing to get teh bus turned around, so this is going to be so much easier on her. I didn't go back outside after Judi & Jim left, instead I took a shower & relaxed on the chaise for a while (my second 'nap' of the day, which was no more than a short doze) . . . . . now I've fixed us bacon, scrambled eggs & pancakes for supper and I'm ready to zone out on the chaise with my book again.

What a day, Linda! I love it when trees together make a tunnel. The hotel shampoo contains oak bark to soften hair. Who thinks of these things? Who decided one day that oak bark might help hair?
