Exactly. I am waiting for the first real debate when the questioner has follow-up questions when the candidate avoids answering the original question (though with Tim Russert gone, I'm not sure who can play that role). We'll see how they both do then.... I have to say, having seen my share of debates, that this one was much more substantive than most back and forth venues we have seen thus far this season - or in recent elections.

I am not an avid McCain supporter, but it is pretty obvious that he spanked Obama so hard It wasn't obvious to me. That sort of quick-response recitation of talking points turns me off. I'm attracted to a candidate who appears to actually think about a question and respond to it; one who appreciates the nuance and complexities of various issues. -Dan. Nuance and complexity. That's the standard liberal dodge when confronted with their own moral confusion and lack of commitment to the standards and values of most Americans.

Thanks for the help Dave - listing three liberal dodges in one post was far too complex and nuanced for a simple conservative like me.

We'll see how they both do then.... Here is the 2008 General Election Debate Schedule: The Commission on Presidential Debates has announced the moderators for the four presidential/vice presidential debates -- one of whom is NBC's own Tom Brokaw. First presidential debate Friday, September 26 The University of Mississippi, Oxford, Miss. Jim Lehrer Executive Editor and Anchor, The NewsHour, PBS Vice presidential debate Thursday, October 2 Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. Gwen Ifill Senior Correspondent, The NewsHour, and Moderator and Managing Editor, Washington Week, PBS Second presidential debate (town meeting) Tuesday, October 7 Belmont University, Nashville, Tenn. Tom Brokaw Special Correspondent, NBC News Third presidential debate Wednesday, October 15 Hofstra University, Hempstead, N.Y. Bob Schieffer CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent, and Host, Face the Nation I noticed that they are all moderated by liberals. Go figure!

I thought it was an insightful conversation...but due to time constraints, the moderator did not ask any follow-up questions. I would like to see a similar format (i.e. where the candidates are questioned individually) but with time for the moderator to ask deeper follow-up questions.

I love this, so now "I,uh, well, hmmmm, uh, you know, uh..." is considered thoughtful and nuanced. The Obama worshippers will jump through any hoop they have to to avoid admitting that their golden boy had his head handed to him Saturday night....

Should I start claiming that conservatives think that misquoting and mischaracterizing people who disagree with them constitutes rational debate? "uh," "well" and "um" aren't nuanced, but neither are "drill for oil now" and "I'll follow them to the gates of hell." At least "uh," "well," and "um" don't insult my intelligence. quote:

Yum.... tapioca. Hot, and with raisins, please. Nuanced translation for Obama disciples: Uhh, I, uhh, believe that, uhh, well, as I have, uhh, said on numerous occasions, uhh, as far as, uhh, a-a-a-s far as deserts made from, uhh, root starch go, uhh, I, uhh, have nothing against, uhh... tapioca, so long as, uhh, a-a-a-s it is served with, uhh raisins? Now has anyone seen my teleprompter?
