Being pro parenting is definitely the key. Christian parents need more encouragement in their God given authority with their children without reference to schooling choices.

I posted in here yesterday, but it got eaten by the computer!

I think we are back to being the only hsing family in our church. We had one other family, but mom has to go back to work full time this year (she's a teacher) and so the kids will go to ps & daycare. There is a family who's children attend a part-time school (they go to class at a local church 2 - 2 1/2 days a week & do the rest of their work at home), so I guess you could call them part-time homeschoolers. And one of our pastors has one of his children in that "part-time" school also!

Our pastor doesn't seem anti-homeschooling. We have kids who attend several different public school districts & private schools. Maybe this makes it more of a non-issue because our kids aren't the only ones who don't go to such & such school. KWIM? I think most people in our church don't really know much about hsing, but I've had the opportunity to share with several moms (& dispel some myths )! I just remembered that one of the missions that we support is a therapeutic horse ranch & that family homeschools, but they live a couple of hours away. At one point, they had asked about using the church for some of their hs group's co-op activities & our Pastor was very open to that (even excited about it). So, I guess he is accepting & supportive of hsing. It is just something I've never discussed with him personally.

We came from a place where almost everyone in our service (a military chapel) homeschooled! I knew we were in the right place when the 1st night the Chaplain's wife asked if we were going to homeschool! I really needed that support & acceptance as a new hser! Now, I guess I'm more secure in our decision to hs & not in as much need of that - although, I do need places to go (like our hs group & here) where people understand my struggles & I don't have to explain myself, KWIM? It'd be nice if our church could be that place, but I think God has us there for other reasons!

We are in a small church now, and it's just us.

Ours is a very large church and I'm quite surprised that we have so few families who home school. (Two, now)

We do have a large home school group in our area with over 80 families. Most are Christian and many are families where dad is the pastor of a smaller church. Few have older kids.

We go to a small church with under 50 members total.

We homeschool.
Another family virtual schools (we both started the same year).
We have 1 or 2 families who use various private schools.
The rest public school.

Our pastor doesn't address the issue because none of us consider it to be an issue.
