Exactly! If Obama wanted the "Messiah" message to stop he could have done it long ago. Remember how quickly he stopped any referrence to his ears? ... and reference to his middle name?

The Messiah link has gone on, by his supporters, since at least May 2007.

Perhaps my expectation was that CHRISTIANS would stand up for their Messiah rather than blindly support a candidate that mocked Him. I guess for many here blind support for a Republican is more important than standing up for the Lord.

What?!?! So voting for Obama is standing up for the Lord? If you want to "stand up for the Lord", RUN, don't walk, away from Obama as FAR AS YOU CAN! The man shouldn't even be allowed to TOUR the Whitehouse with an elementary school, much less occupy it...

And just so you know, the term "messiah" has its roots in the Hebrew term for "savior" or "one who delivers". This is what Obama has branded himself as. It definitely isn't mocking Jesus to point out the ridiculousness of a politician who thinks too highly of himself.

I agree completely!

Except it is Yeshua (Jesus) that means "savior" or "one who delivers". Messiah means "annoited one" and refers to the King. David was messiah. Solomon was messiah, Rehoboam was messiah, etc.

Christ is the Greek equivalent of Messiah.

You are right, I humbly retract my definition. After 25 years of study you think I would stop confusing my terms. Oh well, I am open to rebuke when incorrect :)

Messias: anointed or king of Israel, the Greek form of the Hebrew "mashiyach", as in Daniel 9:25

Neither voting for McCain or Obama is standing up for the Lord as neither men are prophets of God.

Let me put it in terms you can understand...

Imagine Obama and his supporters mocking McCain saying that he is the far right's messiah and his followers believe he will bring in era of conservative theocracy. To illustrate his point he compares McCain to the aposle Peter taking up a sword to defend Jesus when the Romans about to arrest him. This film clip is played all over the internet and the media is eating it up. Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbauh are all salivating at the thought of having a conservative theocracy where abortion is illegal, homosexuals are put in jail, guns are given to every 12 year old and background checks are a thing of the past. Christianity is taught at every school and even employers are forced to start the day with a Christian prayer. Would you think Obama was "just joking"?

I would be laughing at the stupidity of such things, just like I think the Obama Messiah linkage is stupid. Where we disagree... is where it started. I think it hs been pretty clearly documented that it began with Obams's supporters and Obama did nothing to stop it. Now he is being mocked (rightfully so) by McCain... but now he doesn't like it. Now he no longer finds it amusing.

No one on the right would ever imagine the same Messiah treatment of McCain as Obama is experiencing. Seriously, we just don't see him as a messiah... do you?

Of course like any action a vote is subject to judgment according to the word of God...

Heaven...

No abortion, no homosexuals, Christianity is every where and people gladly start the day with a prayer...

If you believe actions are indeed subject to judgement, given all the vitrol and hatred written on this forum, there will be plenty of "judgement" to go around.

Is there any question to the fact that one's actions are subject to judgment? Such a strange place...

Of course some folks here call posting the truth vitriol and hatred...

If you feel comfortable standing before the throne of God saying that EVERYTHING you have written on this forum reflects the love and teachings of Jesus, so be it.

Scripture says that there is none righteous, no not one, but as far as exposing what the candidates stand for and how it measures up to the word of God, I for one will stand by my comments...

I am sure the Lord will have some words with me about the overuse of sarcasm (which I really do try to restrain!), but there is no need to fear judgment for speaking truth.

No problem...I know for a fact I won't have to answer for supporting abortion, homosexual agenda and a host of other ungodly things with weak secular arguments of human rights and postings from ungodly websites...

Of course I am sure it's debatable the version of Jesus you are speaking of is the one commonly portrayed as some meek and timid being that could be blown over by the slightest breeze and wouldn't dare harm a flea. And never spoke of sin, hell, or any form of evil...

It concerns me that McCain continues to betray evidence of a mean streak of deception, womanizing, and obliviousness to consequences that seem to go unnoticed, especially for a man we are considering to elect to the highest office of our land. Reverend Warren had a golden opportunity to address much of this, which he effectively passed up, allowing McCain simply to mention his first marriage as a great failure on his part, and then gloss things over (like with the POW cross story).

My question is, as a Christian trying to follow the teachings of Our Lord, am I to simply ignore this? Why didn't Warren go further in his questions? It's not even a question of whether there was adultery (you can google "LA Times McCain first marriage" for just the beginning of this) - While McCain's first wife Carol was sick and hospitalized (not to mention getting older) and still recovering from her own traumas McCain took out a marriage certificate for Cindy in Arizona, without even having a legal divorce approved yet.

At the very least I see active deception and lack of responsibility here, and something which the Reagan's never forgave him for, apparently. (And with the recent stories about Vicki Iseman you wonder if he learned anything from this.)

It's also clear that not even fellow POWs from 'Nam think he's the right man for the job (you can google "phillip butler military.com" for one GI's opinion) - that given any leeway, McCain's past documents a streak of belligerence and lack of accountability that get conveniently labelled as "maverick", usually at the expense of the well-being of others, at least if they aren't fellow prisoners in a shockingly horrifying situation.

I've heard enough about Obama, he's getting plenty of scrutiny in the press, but what about the character and intentions of our other candidate?

I think that McCain, being a Christian, has already most likely asked for forgiveness of his sins he comitted. Its not up to Warren to question him on those. Thats between McCain and God.
McCain has had a long life - give Obama till hes McCains age and see if theres not a few thousand more snakes in his closet.
Not saying that if a person lives a long life that they are more forgiven for their actions, just saying that Obama hasnt really lived much yet. In 20 years im sure there will be alot more said about his life as well.
