So another thread has got me thinking. There are times I feel ancient in this folder, and other times I feel like a baby. So I'm wondering, how old is everyone and where are you in your life station??? (married, single, kids, no kids, old, young, retired, in school, etc) I think I'll do a series of polls and post the results between polls.

Do you want us to reply to let you know which one we chose?

I chose 21-30. I'm married, we have one baby and I'm in school working on a nursing degree. Technically I am a SAHM, although between school and volunteer work I'm committed about 25-30 hours a week so I really might as well be "working".

I'm 21-30, married with two toddlers, and I stay at home, although I'll be working part time soon.

I am 36 and single (never married) with no kids. Currently, I work part time and am in the process of starting my own business. I am also attending graduate school. I spent about 12 years working full-time in corporate america before I started graduate school though.

You can reply if you want. For now I'm just polling age. I'll poll other things later. Give as much or little as you want. I'm just curious about the CW Women Demographics.

I'm 22 years old; unless some catastrophe happens I'll graduate with a Bachelor's of Science in biology in a year. I'm trying to get into graduate school immediately to get a PhD in pathology, cell damage, protein degradation, cell apoptosis due to viral and bacterial activity, and viral/bacterial roles in the formation of cancer (e.g. how HPV causes cervical cancer on a molecular/biochemical level [although I already know], how Hepatitis can ultimately lead to liver cancer, etc). After that I want to continue research and teach undergraduate/graduate students. I hope to develop novel treatments to thwart certain mechanisms, and hopefully my lab and I will disover new things on the way. Biomedicine is an interesting field. Not married, no kids. (I really don't want that right now, but some day, if possible.) Other than school, I babysit sometimes and do biomedical research at a great university for 20+ hours/week. :)

I'm 44. Currently single. Married twice (in 1982 and in 2004) Divorced once (in 1983) Widowed once (in 2005) I have never raised a child. In 1984, I "officially" placed Christopher for adoption; he was 3-days old at the time. (However, I had been working with the adoption agency with my plans for the previous 6 months). I gave birth to Christopher via C-section . . . after 10.5 months of pregnancy. I, myself, was adopted by my maternal grandmother and her second husband when I was 3 months old. I never met my biological mother (who died in 1985); but in 1986, I did meet my biological father. My adoptive parents died when I was 10 and 26. I haven't driven a vehicle in over 8 years . . . and the majority of my local transportation is via my 3-wheeler adult tricycle. And speaking of which, if I don't stop posting in threads and get on my trike to go to the grocery store, I'm going to loose the rest of my day.

Tamara, may I take this opportunity to tell you that regardless of the subject, I always enjoy reading your posts. I don't always agree with you, but I very much respect the way you relate to others. And besides that, many of your posts are quite interesting and very educational.

Which GRE are you going to take??? That's my problem right now. I waited 5 years after I graduated to take the GRE and then when I took it everything I learned as an undergrad I forgot. I didn't get into any of the schools that wanted the subject. So, I'm going to study some more, and try it again next fall. The VP of my area said he'll support me in any schooling I do, so I really want to try, knowing I have his support.

I'm 34, happily married, & childless by choice. I married at 20 yo. My husband is 7 years older than me. I have been a SAHW for two year and was an interior decorator before that. About 3 weeks ago, I accepted a 15 hour/week job (probably temporary) working in our Chruch Revitalization Ministry, which I have a huge passion for. I still consider myself a SAHW, even with my little job. My main spiritual gift is Prophecy or Exhortation. My personality type is Truth, D, A, or ISTJ- depending on which model you are using. I have a Bachelors of Art in English Literature, with heavy emphasis in both Victorian Lit and Viking Lit, and a minor in Spanish (foreign language, not literature degree) from UAB. I figure skate for exercise and started about 5 years ago. I take a private lesson once a week. I'm what the women around here refer to as "crunchy" or "clean." I've been called those things as both a truthful descriptive label and as an insult. If it's not pure, natural, and non-toxic, I don't want it in my home. I have to get offline, too!! My stomach is growling, and I have errands to run!!

WhiteRose, thanks. I don't run into you as much in Women's, but I appreciate that we can have two perspectives and appreciate each other still. I don't take that for granten in here, lol. :) Do you still hang around Singles? It's like I remember seeing you in a specific forum in the past...and Singles is the only place I used to be in a ton but I'm not in much now. Christine, it's just the general GRE. Most places for biology don't seem to be into the subject test (thank God). I just all the time see people who have a perfect GPA, did research, got good rec letters.... then their GRE score stopped them. And part of me feels like it's one of those unfair tests that's really a game (at least that's what the PowerPrep tests seem like). I just need a 1000 and 1100 (550 on each section) for the two programs at UAB, but I have this feeling that I'm not really about to get the minimum. My practice test scores keep fluctuating too much for me to actually be confident in them, lol. ...and I don't want to take it multiple times and have to pay that fee-- multiple times.

Since everyone else has provided their bios, I'll do the same. I'm 28, transplanted coloradan, divorced, engaged, soon to be step-mom, no biological children, working in the corporate world, want to go to grad school to study analytical chemistry.

I turn 40 on September 6th! Married for 16 years, no kids and no plans for kids. One puppy, a two year old cairn terrier mix who is the cutest little doggie in the universe. I'm a full-time videographer for a community tv station, and I have a video production business on the side. Politically moderate (lean fiscal conservative, lean mildly liberal socially). Theologically conservative, but not fundamentalist or literalist. Raised Southern Baptist. Was Episcopal until about two years ago. Between churches, but visiting an independent church. How's that for an intro?!

Oooo, where in Colorado, if you don't mind? We vacation in Colorado at least twice a year (ski season, usually at Brek, and late summer). This year I get to be at the Longs Peak Highland Games on my birthday!

Practice, practice, practice!!! The general is tricky. Brush up on your vocab and practice writing. I sent practice essays to my sister and uncle for weeks before taking the real thing. It hurt so much to see how far I had to go, but it was really good for me. As far as vocab, learn the most common words first. Then go from there. I got a book that taught me the common words and how often they were used. I then made flashcards for them. I still know most of them, and it's been a year since I took it. The powerprep software is OK. I'm sure you'll do fine on the analytical sections. Those were really easy. I agree that Shar-Mar's posts are always uplifting and encouraging.

I was raised Grace Gospel Fellowship, attended an E-Free church late HS, college, and when I first moved to Cali, now go to a Presbyterian church because the man I'm going to marry is the son of a Presbyterian minister. Heck, he's the son of one of the most prominent Pres ministers that once worked in the bay area.

I recently turned 27, have been married for a couple of years to a wonderful man who recently turned 35. We have one daughter Akeelah who is 20 months and the loudest thing I have ever heard in my life. She looks nothing like me but contrary to what people tell me, I did actually give birth to her. I graduated from university with a BA in History and Political Science and then got my graduate degree from college in Corporate Communications. I found out I was pregnant as I was finishing my second degree so I became a SAHW and now am a SAHM. I do a few things from home that would be considered work (looking after another child, writing.) My husband is a teacher, who recently celebrated living in Canada for 20 years! We attend a non-denominational church, we are total city people and Dh has an extremely large family, of which all under the age of 18 have apparently moved in and are living on my couches.
