Me too!

GC is debating whether to go into paleontology or archaeology. I keep trying to use my mind power ( ) to silently lean her toward archaeology. But, either one would be fascinating.

In the South, women used to be named their mother's maiden name many times.

Harper Lee, Carson McCullers, Flannery O'Conner are examples of the famous women whose names bore the tradition. I happen to think it is cool. Men would have the Mother's maiden name as a middle name many times.

Not if you had my maiden name...

If I had been named that way I would be:

Faint Luckenbach

At least with archaeology, if she gets tired of diggin up bones, she can dig up something else.

Can you get her to believe that she would become "Indiana Jones" ???

that might help the jedi mind powers...

Good idea! My jedi mind powers leave much to be desired.

We all just watched the first 3 Indiana Jones movies in preparation for the new one.

Oh. That part probably doesn't belong in this thread.

I started to take into to Arch. in college, but it was filled up so I took intro to Anthropology instead. Which has come in use a great deal around here.

There only two things in life that make it worth livin'
That's guitars that tune good and firm feelin' women
I don't need my name in the marquis lights
I got my song and I got you with me tonight
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love

Let's go to Luckenbach Texas with Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin' got us fueding
like the Hatfield and McCoys
Between Hank Williams pain songs, Newberry's train songs
and blue eyes cryin' in the rain out in Luckenbach Texas
ain't nobody feelin' no pain

RIP Waylon - I miss you.

Last night I dug your picture out from our old dresser drawer
I set it on the table and I talked to it 'til four
I read some old love letters right up 'til the break of dawn
Yeah I've been sittin' alone diggin' up bones

Then I went through the jewelery and I found our wedding rings
I put mine on my finger and I gave yours a fling
across this lonely bedroom of our recent broken home
Yeah tonight I'm sittin' alone diggin' up bones

I'm diggin' up bones,i'm diggin' up bones
Exhuming things thats better left alone
I'm resurrecting memories of a love that's dead and gone
Yeah tonight i'm sittin' alone diggin' up bones

Sorry - can't help myself.

I can not play speed chess. No clocks for me. I want to ponder, stare, sip coffee, intimidate, and eventually move.

ROTFLOL!

I used to play occasionally with my x-bil and he took forever to move. I'd read while he pondered.

If I am playing a tough apponent, I rub on a little Ben Gay before the match, and eat some onions.

I minored in anthropology (I wish they'd had more archaeology courses) & psychology. Talk about appropriate for these forums!

As far as chess, I think the last time I played, I was probably around 12.

My Dad did this too, he was the one who taught me, but the thing that made me craziest was when there would still be several pieces left on the board and he would say that he had won and proceed to tell me where he would move and how I could not possibly block him etc. Grrr. I always thought he should just let me win just once, but He never did.

I taught my self to play with a book from the library and a plastic set and checker board when I was 13.
I am not good, but I do enjoy it. It is an international game.

and, IMO, soooo much more Olympic worthy than ping pong.

I did that too! But I forget how old I was.

We had a tiny little two room library - a former slave cabin.
