I still smile when I think about how happy she was at how cool it was when she put the candle inside and it glowed like that. I'm 42 and I'd have been happy to accomplish that with a template!

I don't believe in celebrating halloween and instead help out at our churches Reformation party.I do enjoy eating all the leftover candy we buy for trick or treaters. We always have a ton since I live in a small town and not too many people come to our house.

sunshine4God, does someone stay home to pass out treats while you help out at the party? I'm curious why would buy treats if you don't believe in "celebrating" the day.

We celebrate Halloween with costumes, candy and decorating the house. It's a great excuse to take the kids around the neighbourhood and they love it. Unfortunately my Things are getting too old to Trick or Treat so I'll see what they have in mind for this year. *shrug* I do have a question though: What is the difference in a "Fall Festival" that has bob for apples, cakes walks, and costumes, and having a Halloween party?

ORIGINAL: GroupW Popcorn. We need popcorn. And a soda. Popcorn balls and orange soda!! I like coke with a scoop of vanilla in it. My husband makes great caramel popcorn (kinda like Cracker Jacks, only homemade and tons better). We don't get a lot of trick or treaters here, but BIL and SIL live 10 minutes away. Probably my son will be old enough to do some limited trick or treating next year, and we'll take him around with his cousins; their neighborhood is much better. Plus the malls do some cool trick or treating events. I kinda like that. When I lived on a military base, there was a science to trick or treating. The base only allowed us 2 hours, and the quality of the candy went by rank, but the low-ranked folks lived much closer together. So, you could get king-sized HUGE candy bars from the base commander, but walk more for it, or you could get smaller, cheaper candy from the lower ranked enlisted and just plow right through a whole street of families. Most of us settled on a compromise between the two. The upper ranked enlisted and lower ranked officers gave out pretty good stuff, but still lived reasonably close together. Nobody discussed it, but the higher your rank, the better candy you were expected to give out.

We don't dress up or anything and rarely do we have kids ringing the doorbell. But I buy a few bags of the stuff I like and if the kids come, then I share. I think people who actually worship Hallween might be evil? But I don't think we're talking about that here. ********** Black and orange are the traditional colors of Halloween because black represents death, night, witches, black cats, bats, vampires and orange represents pumpkins, jack o' lanterns, Autumn. In modern Halloween images and products, purple, green, and red are also prominent. Purple -- night, the supernatural, mysticism Green -- goblins, monsters Red -- blood, evil The above is from wikipedia...the source of randomness in the universe

GC picked up a magazine with Halloween treats, decorations, etc. and I noticed that there was a LOT of green and purple in it. So much so that I, unobservant as I am, noticed it.
